Study Suggests a Link Between Musical Preference and Personality Type

Are one’s musical preferences a form of personality test? A new study conducted by the University Of Cambridge suggests that could be the case.  A large scale study encompassing 350,000 participants, collectively hailing from over 50 countries and six continents, showed a linkage between one’s stylistic preferences when it comes to music and their personality type. During the study, participants were asked to complete a personality questionnaire and complete an exercise in which they ranked popular songs.  Intriguingly, the linkage was found to be universal on a global scale, suggesting localized cultural influences were not confounding factors.  “Ed Sheeran’s song ‘Shivers’ is as likely to appeal to extraverts living in the UK as those li...

Martin Garrix Reunites With Julian Jordan for Spine-Tingling Single, “Funk”: Listen

Another day, another new single from Martin Garrix‘s upcoming album. Sentio is due out on April 29th, but its creator seems intent on letting fans hear as much of its music as possible before it drops in full. Today’s release of “Funk,” a track produced with longtime friend and collaborator Julian Jordan, marks the seventh Sentio single Garrix has unveiled thus far—an unprecedented number for an album rollout. “Funk” is decidedly darker than the other singles from Sentio. Here, the Dutch compatriots produce pulsing leads before morphing the arrangement into a tense build, which culminates in a minimal, spine-tingling electro drop. The riveting single was one of many unreleased records dropped by Garrix in his massive Ultra 2022 set, joining fellow S...

This is the last song u will hear me on w Kanye.” Kanye West and Kid Cudi had a public falling out back in February. West was apparently upset about Cudi’s friendship with Kim Kardashian’s new boyfriend Pete Davidson. West said that Cudi would not be featured on Donda 2 due to his association with Davidson, and Cudi responded, “Too bad I don’t wanna be on ...

How Hatchie Reinvented Herself on Giving The World Away

Hatchie‘s debut album Keepsake was a beautifully dreamy, widescreen statement for the Australian artist, but throughout the album was a thick fog the enveloped the sweet surroundings. Now, for her glorious second album, Giving The World Away, out this Friday (April 22nd), the fog has cleared and revealed Hatchie in her truest form. Where Keepsake dabbled heavily in shoegaze and ’90s era dream pop, Giving The World Away doubles down hard, creating anthemic pop hooks out of homespun beats and powerful moments of crystalline rock. It’s a logical progression for Hatchie (born Harriette Pilbeam), but don’t think her carefully-calculated aesthetic takes away from the vulnerable truth of her lyrics—Hatchie is more open than ever before on Giving The World Away, and as she works to disma...

Documentary Now Season 4 Shooting “All Over Britain,” Won’t Feature Bill Hader, Says Fred Armisen

All three of its creators have pretty steady day jobs (starring in an HBO dramedy, hosting an NBC talk show, guest-starring in every other TV show being made), but that or even a global pandemic won’t stop Bill Hader, Seth Meyers, and Fred Armisen from continuing to produce new seasons of Documentary Now! And when Armisen recently spoke with Consequence regarding his role in the Netflix original comedy The Bubble, he did so from London, where production on Documentary Now is currently happening. “Now that everything’s starting up again, as soon as Documentary Now started, you know, I couldn’t get here quickly enough,” Armisen says, while offering a few details about what to expect from the new season, which will include these three “documentaries,” as described in the official IFC rel...
