It is anchored around a sample of “More Than Enough” by Universal Togetherness Band. The Shining-referencing video was directed by Douglas Hart and Steve Mackey. In a new chapter of the band’s discography, Freakout/Release is out on August 19 via Domino. It is Hot Chip’s eighth studio album, which was written and recorded in East London. It follows their 2020 compilation album Late Night Tales: Hot Chip. Hot Chip is performing tonight at San Francisco’s The Warfield. The...
There are two reasons you should be paying attention to Rochester right now. The first is RXK Nephew, the workaholic rapper whose “American Tterroristt” is bar none the most insane song I’ve heard recently. (Yes, I’m late.) The other is death metal quintet Undeath, who do not work at the prolific pace RXK Nephew does but are by no means slouches. They are one of the most exciting newer death metal bands, as they don’t adhere to either to ultra-orthodox simplicity or bonkers technicality. Rather, Undeath pepper their songs with slight twists, little leads and breaks that make you go “huh?” for a split second before you resume headbanging/windmilling/nodding/however you move your head when you listen to death metal. It lends to a macabre joy, and lest you might think they’re aching to s...

A fan has now regained his Guinness World Record by watching Spider-Man: No Way Home 292 times at the cinema. The feat was achieved by Florida’s Ramiro Alanis, who previously held the world record for watching Avengers: Endgame 191 times. Unfortunately for him, the record was subsequently broken by Arnaud Klein, who managed to watch Kaamelott: First Instalment 204 times. Hoping to win his record back, Alanis has now managed to watch No Way Home a staggering 292 times. Spending roughly $3,400 USD on tickets alone, Alanis has now spent 720 hours watching the film between December 16 last year to March 15 this year, equating to roughly 30 full days. In order to fit that amount in such a short period, he even started watching them back to back, at one point viewing the...

In a new interview, Rush members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson opened up about the death of drummer Neil Peart and the circumstances surrounding the band prior to his passing in January 2020. Lee and Lifeson spoke with Canadian talk program House of Strombo, discussing numerous topics such as the 40th anniversary of Rush’s seminal album Moving Pictures. When host George Stroumboulopoulos brought up the final years of the band, Lee revealed that Peart wanted to keep his cancer diagnosis a secret, which forced the band to protect his privacy by keeping fans in the dark. “[Neil] didn’t want anyone to know [about his illness],” Lee said (as transcribed by Blabbermouth). “He just didn’t. He wanted to keep it in the house. And we did. And that was hard. I can’t tell you it was easy, ’cause it was n...
