David Freel, best known as the vocalist and guitarist of the San Francisco rock band Swell, died Tuesday (April 12). The band confirmed the news on Facebook; no cause of death has been reported. He was 64. Born January 31, 1958, Freel formed Swell in 1989 after meeting drummer Sean Kirkpatrick. They released a self-titled debut album on their own pSychosPecificMusic label in April 1990, and played their first show that August at San Francisco’s I-Beam, opening for Mazzy Star. Ryan Michael Reavis, who previously agreed to plead guilty to distribution of fentanyl in the federal case involving the 2018 death of Mac Miller, has been sentenced to nearly 11 years in prison, Rolling Stone reports and court documents confirm. Before handing down the sentence of 10 years and 11 months, U.S. District Judge Otis D. Andrew Bird has announced his new album Inside Problems with a video for his new song “Underlands.” The album is due out June 3 via Loma Vista. He also shared an eponymous companion film for the LP.
