Joe Satriani has confirmed that he has been in discussions with Alex Van Halen and David Lee Roth about taking part in an all-star VAN HALEN tribute project. The 65-year-old guitarist addressed the rumor just days after former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted revealed to The Palm Beach Post that he was approached by the VAN HALEN drummer about six months ago about playing bass for the project. DOWN Announces Spring/Summer 2022 Tour Dates

Long-running heavy metal supergroup DOWN, featuring vocalist Philip H. Anselmo, guitarists Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein, drummer Jimmy Bower and bassist Pat Bruders, will make a handful of rare live appearances this spring and summer. The band will launch a three-date U.S. run of shows on May 19 at the Welcome To Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida. After playing in Atlanta and Dallas immediately after Rockville, DOWN will take a three-week break before regrouping for three European festival appearances in June. An appearance at this year’s Blue Ridge Rock Festival will follow in September in Alton, Virginia. Swell’s David Freel Dies at 64

David Freel, best known as the vocalist and guitarist of the San Francisco rock band Swell, died Tuesday (April 12). The band confirmed the news on Facebook; no cause of death has been reported. He was 64. Born January 31, 1958, Freel formed Swell in 1989 after meeting drummer Sean Kirkpatrick. They released a self-titled debut album on their own pSychosPecificMusic label in April 1990, and played their first show that August at San Francisco’s I-Beam, opening for Mazzy Star. Man Sentenced to Over 10 Years in Prison in Connection With Mac Miller’s Death

Ryan Michael Reavis, who previously agreed to plead guilty to distribution of fentanyl in the federal case involving the 2018 death of Mac Miller, has been sentenced to nearly 11 years in prison, Rolling Stone reports and court documents confirm. Before handing down the sentence of 10 years and 11 months, U.S. District Judge Otis D. Suspect Arrested for Arson Attack at Brooklyn LGBTQ Club

A man accused of setting a Brooklyn nightclub ablaze earlier this month has been arrested by U.S. Marshals. The Rash nightclub has only been operating in Brooklyn’s Bushwick neighborhood since October of last year. The venue had become a preferred spot among the community’s LGBTQ+ clubbers.
