HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty Pusha T knows exactly what he’s doing. While the buzz surrounding his forthcoming new album, It’s Almost Dry, continues to rise, he’s also “pressing” his big brother Malice about making a new Clipse album. It’s well known that Malice stepped away from the game, choosing instead to focus on his faith and living his life (he was the officiant for his brother’s wedding). However, on NIGO’s latest project, I Know NIGO!, the Clipse reunited for a new song called “Punch Bowl.” Related Stories One listen to the song and it’s evident that Malice hasn’t lost a step lyrically. It also meant that, once again, fans are speculating about and hoping for a proper Clipse reunion. Apparently, so is Push A Ton. [embedded content] “Being in the studio w...

Julian Lennon on Covering “Imagine” For the First Time in Support of Ukraine: It Was ‘The Right Occasion”

With two new songs just out and a full album, JUDE, coming later this year, Julian Lennon promises that his widely lauded performance of his father’s “Imagine” during Global Citizen’s Stand Up for Ukraine! Social Media Rally on April 8th is not a harbinger of things to come in that direction. “I don’t have a hankering for anything else. I really don’t,” Lennon tells Consequence by Zoom from Los Angeles. “I have a hankering to get on with my own life and my own work.” He adds that the “Imagine” performance — which took place on a candle-lit set, accompanied only by Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme, Rihanna) on acoustic guitar — “was ‘done. Now that’s over with.’ I’ve had a few requests to sing it live, and I’m going, ‘No, I’ve done my bit. That’s it. Onward with my work and my life now.” But Lenno...

After star Paul Mescal responded by saying, “I’m officially dead,” Bridgers wrote back, “nooo don’t die your so talented aha.” This led to the two of them dating and eventually, Hulu tapped Bridgers t...

Cardi B Joins the Sample Drill Wave on Kay Flock’s “Shake It”: Stream

The latest trend in New York drill has been the liberal use of ’90s and early 2000s R&B samples, as heard in regional hits like B-Lovee’s “My Everything,” which flips Mary J. Blige’s “Everything.” Kay Flock is the latest rapper to hop on board with his new single “Shake It,” bringing fellow Bronx native Cardi B along for the ride. Produced by Elias Beatz, the track samples Akon’s 2005 hit “Bananza (Belly Dancer).” A snippet of the song had already gone viral on TikTok, but anticipation for “Shake It” reached a fever pitch after clips from the video shoot surfaced of Cardi performing her verse while draped out in red — her wig even looks like a red bandana. That unbridled energy is the perfect fit for the sample drill production: “I gotta step up, bitch, I’m a stomper/ All of my opps ge...

MICHAEL SCHENKER Looks Back On His Brief Stint As Guitarist Of RATT: ‘I Couldn’t Wait To Get Out Of It’

In a new interview with The Rock Experience With Mike Brunn, legendary German guitarist Michael Schenker reflected on how he agreed, in late 1990, during one of the MCAULEY SCHENKER GROUP‘s many breaks, to do a favor for his friend Warren DeMartini and temporarily replaced Robbin Crosby in Los Angeles glam rockers RATT. “That was harmless; it was absolutely harmless,” Michael said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “Warren DeMartini is an absolute Michael Schenker fan, and he became a friend. So, Robin [McAuley] and I, we joined the same management, Left Bank. And so I did two things. There was a six-month break for Robin and myself before we were gonna start recording the next album, and in those six months I was approached by the Left Bank management and record...
