Chlöe has returned with her latest bop, “Treat Me,” sampling Bubba Sparxxx and the Ying Yang Twins’ 2005 hit “Ms. New Booty.” The track arrives with a fierce, choreography-controlled music video, directed by Diana Kunst. “Just got home and got super emotional,” the vocalist wrote on Twitter ahead of the visual’s release. “Can’t wait for y’all to see the video tonight. Man. I think it beats HM,” she added, referencing her previous solo release, “Have Mercy.” “But lemme know what y’all think after.” just got home and got super emotional… can’t wait for y’all to see the video tonight. man. i think it beats HM but lemme know what y’all think after — Chlöe (@ChloeBailey) April 8, 2022 Additional contributors to the music video include Parkwood Entertainment’s Andrew Makadsi and director of pho...
On this date 25 years ago, Sleater-Kinney released their breakthrough album, Dig Me Out. Wait, can you believe it’s been 25 years?! Whew. In honor of the album’s big anniversary, Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein lowkey dropped the news on their socials that there will be an accompanying tribute album to Dig Me Out. Its list of contributors is quite impressive, put it quite mildly. Though we don’t know who will cover each song, the participants include St. Vincent, Wilco, Courtney Barnett, Low, rising rockers The Linda Lindas, Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires, Tunde Adebimpe of TV on the Radio, Self Esteem, Margo Price and many more. Some of the proceeds of the sales will go to SMYRC, a Portland-based LGBTQIA+ youth center. “To commemorate 25 years of Dig Me Out, we’re releasing a cove...
Hurricane season might reach its fever pitch in fall, but Ex on the Beach produced one hell of a summer storm on the show’s most recent episode, when the introduction of a brand new ex sent Da’Vonne – typically one for diplomacy and measured conversations – into hysterics. At the top of the second episode of MTV’s dating series, Da’Vonne – who’d been getting to know former couple Mike and Arisce better – said she loved watching them “blossom and grow” and hoped she’d eventually land the same type of connection for herself. But the wish sadly fell on deaf ears, and when Arisce said explicitly “[Da’Vonne] needs good news right now,” it seemed to set the inverse effect into motion, as Da’Vonne’s sudden summoning to the Shack of Secrets kicked off a swelling social cyclone. Upon Da’Vonne...
By Beau Hayhoe You’ve heard the song. Your mom has probably heard the song. Anyone you know who’s “extremely online” has definitely heard the song. If you haven’t heard the song? Get ready to meet Wet Leg. The song, of course, is the riotously fun, incredibly clever “Chaise Longue” from the band of the moment (seriously). With its knowing references to Mean Girls (“Would you like us to assign someone to butter your muffin?”), zippy guitar, and a seriously cool bass line, it’s no wonder many dubbed “Chaise Longue” the indie song of last summer. The fervor surrounding the group — formed in 2019 in the Isle of Wight by college friends, rhythm guitarist-lead singer Rhian Teasdale and backing vocalist-lead guitarist Hester Chambers — took off astonishingly quickly, traveling from hitmaker BBC R...
I’m a sucker for most songs that start with a raw guitar chord, but add a few snaps and a gritty, melodic voice, and I’m hooked. My latest obsession riding the wave of social success is Anees‘s “Sun and Moon,” a romantic track that praises the object of his affection as the life-sustaining force that keeps our planet in accord with the solar system. Anees accounts a gargantuan love: “Baby, baby, you’re my sun and moon / Girl, you’re everything between / A lot of pretty faces could waste my time / But you’re my dream girl.” Physicality takes center stage in love songs these days, but Anees’s ballad peels back the layers of love and affection, championing the kind of intimacy that makes “the stars collide,” beckons to be prote...

Red Hot Chili Peppers have been added to this year’s New Orleans Jazz Fest lineup. The band will be replacing Foo Fighters, who dropped off following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins. The Chili Peppers join a lineup that includes The Who, Stevie Nicks, Jimmy Buffett, Lionel Richie Luke Combs and hundreds more artists. The festival takes place between April 29 and May 8. Last week, the Chili Peppers released Unlimited Love, their first album in six years. Ahead of its release, the band was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The night of the album’s release, the band played an intimate show down the street from their star at the Fonda Theater. That night, Red Hot Chili Peppers were joined by their friend and former producer George Clinton for a version of “Give It Away.” T...
Following a series of hard-hitting collaborations, Lil Baby has returned with two new singles of his own. The rapper dropped “Right On” and “In A Minute,” each paired with a high-production music video. In the visual for “Right On,” Lil Baby cruises through his hometown neighborhood in Atlanta in a Rolls Royce. I’m way better than last time,” he asserts while rapping from the backset, reminding everyone that he’s improving each day. On “In A Minute,” the rapper introspectively considers his progress over ominous piano melodies. “I’m in a different league,” he says, “I’m tired of showing what I can get done, what you gonna do for me?” The video flicks through a montage of him performing on stage, taking photos with fans and traveling to his next destination via private jet. Just last week, ...
