Parcast Union Reaches Tentative Deal With Spotify, Management on First Contract
Seemingly averting a threatened strike, a union at Parcast has reached a tentative agreement with Spotify and Parcast management on a first contract covering the podcast studio’s content writers, fact-checkers, producers, researchers and other workers. Mariah Carey, John Legend & More Celebrate Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Supreme Court Confirmation: ‘History Was Made Today!’
The Senate confirmed Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court on Thursday (April 7), making history by securing her place as the first Black female justice. Fifty-one-year-old Jackson was confirmed 53-47, with three Republican votes from Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Mitt Romney (Utah). The new Supreme Court justice was formerly an appeals court judge with nine years experience on the federal bench. She is the third Black justice, after Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas, and the sixth woman. She joins three other women currently on the high court, including Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Amy Coney Barrett. Pink Floyd Release First New Song in 28 Years to Benefit Ukraine: Stream
David Gilmour and Nick Mason have released their first new song as Pink Floyd in 28 years. Entitled “Hey, Hey Rise Up!”, it’s out today alongside a music video created by Matt Whitecross. Watch it below. Proceeds from the song and video will benefit the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund. According to a press release, Gilmour and Mason recorded “Hey, Hey Rise Up!” on Wednesday, March 30th. The pair were joined in the studio by bassist Guy Pratt and keyboardist Nitin Sawhney. The song samples an Instagram video by Andriy Khlyvnyuk (of Ukrainian band Boombox), singing the Ukrainian anthem “Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow” in Kyiv earlier this year. Coldplay Announce Latin American Tour Dates with Camila Cabello
Coldplay have expanded their “Music of the Spheres World Tour” with new dates in Peru, Chile, and Brasil. Notably, Coldplay’s September shows in Lima, Peru and Santiago, Chile will feature support from Camila Cabello. In October, Coldplay will play gigs in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brasil with H.E.R.
