May The Lord Watch: The Little Brother Story was directed by Holland Randolph Gallagher. It features live footage, archival clips of Drake and Doja Cat, and interviews with Little Brother members, Questlove, and others. A release date for the film has not yet been announced, but you can check out the trailer below. Little Brother disbanded in 2010 shortly after releasing their album LeftBack that same year. Dave Mustaine Finally Reveals Who Played Bass on the Upcoming Megadeth Album

Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine has finally revealed who played bass on the band’s upcoming album, The Sick, The Dying and The Dead. In a new interview, the frontman disclosed that it was Steve Di Giorgio of fellow veteran thrash act Testament. Last year, longtime Megadeth bassist David Ellefson was ousted from the band after a compromising video surfaced of him engaging in an “embarrassing” online sexual encounter with a young woman. Mustaine promptly fired Ellefson from the group, stating at the time, “While we do not know every detail of what occurred, with an already strained relationship, what has already been revealed now is enough to make working together impossible moving forward.” Mustaine also announced that the band would hire a new musician to re-record all the bass parts on the new a...

Bruce Willis’ Retirement Means It’s Time to Rethink Our Perception of Bruce Willis

Gasoline Alley, Midnight in the Switchgrass, Cosmic Sin — these are just a few of the titles the visage of Bruce Willis has graced in the last several years, direct-to-video cash-ins that leveraged a few minutes of screentime from one of America’s most revered action stars to drive VOD sales and move Redbox inventory. Take a chintzy script you can film in Eastern Europe or Atlanta with minimal crew and one or two C-listers, throw Willis at the beginning or the end (aided by obvious body doubles), then slap his face on the poster and you’ve got a movie, baby. Willis’ take on this material, in particular, earned this subgenre of film the moniker “the geezer teaser.” Willis’ recent films in particular have been the subject of a deluge of jokes online, from hour-long Red Letter Media videos to...

Pantera’s New “Vulgar Display of Lager” Beer Packs a Wallop

A new Pantera beer boasts the clever name Vulgar Display of Lager, and like the album that inspired its name, it packs a punch in both its design and its 5.9% alcohol by volume (ABV). The new brew, which starts shipping on April 5th, takes the iconic artwork of the dude getting punched in the face from Pantera’s classic 1992 album Vulgar Display of Power, and displays it on the can, making it an instant collectible. In fact, it’s being released in partnership with Knucklebonz, a company known for its collectible statues of rock bands. As for what’s inside the can, an official description describes the beer as having a “complex flavor profile that is cold fermented for the crisp and refreshing experience you’d expect from a world class German Lager.” Advertisement Related Video “We’ve been ...

Eddie Murphy in Talks to Play George Clinton in Amazon Biopic

Eddie Murphy is giving up the funk. According to a new report by Deadline, the actor is in early talks to topline a biopic about the Parliament–Funkadelic bandleader George Clinton. The film, which is still in its earliest stages, would track the musician from his roots in 1940s-era North Carolina to becoming the bonafide Godfather of Funk, pioneering the genre alongside James Brown and Sly Stone as he formed both Parliament and Funkadelic. In the process, he influenced the rise of modern hip-hop by inspiring the sound of everyone from 2Pac and Wu-Tang Clan to Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, OutKast, Public Enemy, and beyond. The Oscar nominee will also serve as a producer on the project. While a deal isn’t quite set in stone, the film would be part of Murphy’s three-picture deal with Amazon followin...

New Software Compensates Music Producers When DJs Play Their Songs In Clubs

Unclaimed and unpaid public performance royalties could soon be a demon of the past. DJ and music producer DVS1 recently launched Aslice to help alleviate the issues that come with public performances in clubs and venues around the globe. It operates on a donation-based system, so DJs can pledge a percentage of their gig fee to the songwriters and producers whose music they’re playing. The company recommends 5%, but more can be pledged and the figure won’t be disclosed. Aslice’s beta testing in November 2021 had 100 DJs upload 110 playlists and 5,291 tracks. Of those tracks, 4,339 were accurately identified and matched, a clip of 82%. This equated to 2,213 producers receiving payments averaging $1.40 per song. The money that wasn’t able to be tracked will be do...

A Snorkeler Swam His Way Into a Free Ultra Music Festival Pass—Then Raved In His Wetsuit

Oh, the places you’ll go, Dr. Seuss once said, with a little bit of spunk, ingenuity… and snorkeling gear? Last weekend, a man named Jack Davidson somehow made his way into Miami’s Ultra Music Festival by snorkeling through the nearby harbor. He dodged police boats and suspicious onlookers along the way, and a classic “Do it for the Vine” mentality ensured it was all caught on camera. And hey, who could blame him? After all, headlining performances by the likes of Alison Wonderland, David Guetta, Kygo and Hardwell (check out his full comeback set here) were at stake. Davidson was ultimately caught by police officers on patrol, but they were apparently so amused by his efforts that he was granted a free VIP wristband for the day. But the hilarity doesn’t end th...

Foo Fighters Won’t Play at the Grammys

Foo Fighters have canceled their performance at this weekend’s Grammy Awards following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins, SPIN has learned. A few weeks ago, the Foos were added to the lineup along with Nas, H.E.R., Jon Batiste and Chris Stapleton. The ceremony takes place on Sunday in Las Vegas. The Foos are nominated for three awards, including Best Rock Album. According to Variety, the Grammys are planning a tribute to the late drummer, who died last Friday at the age of 50. Earlier this week, Foo Fighters canceled all of their upcoming tour dates. “We’re sorry for and share in the disappointment that we won’t be seeing one another as planned,” the band said in a statement. “Instead, let’s take this time to grieve, to heal, to pull our loved ones close, and to appreciate all the m...

Kelly Clarkson Takes Kellyoke to Church for ‘Son of a Preacher Man’ Cover

Kelly Clarkson put her own spin on a classic on Thursday’s episode (March 31) of The Kelly Clarkson Show. In the latest edition of Kellyoke, the singer performed Dusty Springfield‘s “Son of a Preacher Man,” which peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1969. Clarkson wore a long-sleeved black floor-length dress, which fittingly resembled the clerical clothing worn by preachers. The backup singers, who also wore all black, accompanied the 39-year-old vocalist in the gospel choir’s style, highlighting the song’s religious theme.
