Drake recently linked up with Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James in his hometown of Toronto. It comes as no surprise that Drake has been on the roulette kick lately, often seen posting about his losses and wins on his social media. While The Boy appears to be a big spender, he is also generous with his gifts. The multi-platinum award-winning artist commemorated his “biggest ever hit” on Stake.Com with an even greater gesture. In a clip posted to his Instagram, Drake can be seen celebrating a winning bet on black 11. He can be heard saying, “Speaking of memorable nights, I had an incredible night last night playing roulette on Stake.com. It was my biggest hit ever. As you can see, I was clearly excited. Any time I get blessed like that, I always think it’s luck that needs to be trans...

Why Tintoretto? The 16th-century painter for whom Dan Bejar titled “Tintoretto, It’s for You,” the strangest and most electrifying song on Destroyer’s 13th album, was known for his furious brushwork, according to Wikipedia. It is, of course, a tacit admission of insufficient research to be quoting from the free encyclopedia in the second sentence of a review, but in this case a throwing up of hands seems in keeping with the spirit of the work. Bejar, Destroyer’s voice and mastermind, said in a recent Pitchfork interview that the reference to Tintoretto is inscrutable even to him, but that it has something to do with skewering his own youthful pretension: “a vague recollection of me throwing around Tintoretto as a painter I liked in my 20s, just such utter bullshit.” It would be just as dis...

In a new interview with “Chris Akin Presents…” , TESLA guitarist Frank Hannon was asked if there are any plans for the band to work on a full-length album following the release of the “Cold Blue Steel” single, which came out last August. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Right now, after we did the ‘Shock’ album [in 2019] and the way things are right now, we’re only gonna concentrate on one song at a time. We’re pushing late 50s, mid 60s in our age, and the bottom line is there’s no need to put the pressure on a deadline of you’ve gotta fabricate 10 songs by the first of June and force it. So, we’re not gonna do that. We’re gonna just write songs as they come and as we feel them, and put &...
TWISTED SISTER singer Dee Snider spoke to Tom La Vecchia of Armchair MBA about how the rise of grunge in the early 1990s forced most hard rock bands off the radio and MTV, with album and tour sales plummeting. Asked if he saw Seattle bands like NIRVANA and SOUNDGARDEN slowly gaining popularity of at the expense of 1980s metal, Dee said: “Well, no one saw it coming, but I was already dead and semi-buried before grunge hit. TWISTED arrived in the early ’80s and then we hit our stride in the mid-’80s and by the late ’80s, the band had broken up. I had a band called DESPERADO [with former IRON MAIDEN drummer Clive Burr and ex-GILLAN guitarist Bernie Tormé] that got shelved by Elektra Records; a lot of money we spent on that record. So I was sort of already removed as a ...

Earlier this week, Pusha T dropped a diss track taking aim at McDonald’s for Arby’s spicy fish commercial. The “Spicy Fish Diss Track” was meant to poke fun at McDonald’s famous Filet-O-Fish in an attempt to elevate Arby’s latest fish sandwich. Pusha’s involvement with Arby’s commercial proved to be a viral success and even helped the fast-food chain garner some new exposure. Darren Rovell took to Twitter to report that according to Apex Marketing, King Push’s “Spicy Fish Diss Track” gave the fast-food restaurant chain over $8 million USD in advertising equivalent. To be exact, the day after the song’s release, Arby’s received $8,203,272 USD equivalent in advertising exposure. British goth and post-punk pioneers Bauhaus have released their first new song in 14 years. Check out “Drink the New Wine” below (via Rolling Stone). The new song was inspired by the Surrealist movement and written during lockdown last year, during which the group’s four members (Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, Kevin Haskins, and David J) shared audio files to construct an exquisite corpse without hearing what the other members had done. Bauhaus released their last album, Go Away White, in 2008. They reunited for their first show in 13 years in 2019 following singer Peter Murphy making a “full recovery” from the heart attack he suffered that year. The group will hit the road again in the United States starting this May. Read more about Bauhaus in Pitchfork’s feature “The Story of Goth in 33 Song...

Pitchfork: So, what happened? When were you made aware that your work had been removed? Tommy Kha: I was made aware that there was something going on. I got an email on March 8, and I had a phone meeting with the UrbanArt Commission on Thursday, March 10. That’s when I was told they would give me a heads up that they were going to move forward to remove the work. At that time, I was made more aware that what was happening that Tuesday kind of grew to something larger. I didn’t really think much of it, because people are free to speak what they want, as long as it doesn’t harm me. But I was reassured that they would let me know before they made any decision, and that if I was open, to talk further with a representative from the airport, at a time when I could choose, which was Wednesday the...
