Nas has put out a music video for his single “Wave Gods.” Featuring A$AP Rocky and DJ Premier, the song comes off of his December album MAGIC, co-created with producer Hit-Boy. A$AP Rocky, Hidji of AWGE and Spike Jordan directed the visual, with Jordan also executive producing alongside Michael Prieto and Kajal. The video opens with the quote “every choice you make, makes you.” Shot in New York, the video skips between close-ups of a vinyl being spun on a turntable and footage of the rappers going about their daily lives in the city. The visual moves Nas rolling dice with his friends and being confronted by a stranger, cutting to him waking up in a hospital bed. “No comparison we more solid than they are,” Nas raps on the hook. “Me and Hit-Boy they say we like the new Gang Starr.” Nas’ MAG...
Soccer Mommy has announced her new album Sometimes, Forever, with the showstopping new single ‘shotgun’ and its accompanying video. The song holds the same blunt, observational nature and homemade feel while expanding on her trademark style with a heavier, shoegaze-influenced sound. The song starts with the presence of a fast-moving, digital-sounding backdrop with lush, dreamy vocals. This pop-inspired element to the song compliments the whirring and distortion that appear subtly alongside (and more prominently later) on the track. The accompanying video shows what appears to be a childhood bedroom where Soccer Mommy plays her guitar and sings. Later the video breaks the fourth wall and the room is revealed to be a set. The color palette changes with the mood of the song, all within the ro...

We found comfort in the fact that those who we love stay with us, that they become intrinsically part of us, in a way.” The Last Goodbye...
ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott spoke to Knotfest.com about the musical direction of the band’s 11th studio album, “Deceivers”, which will arrive on July 29 via Century Media Records. He said: “We have a style that we’ve established in our 25-plus-year careers, but music is something that we still feel very passionate about. That is the driving force. There’s always something that we haven’t tried. Either ‘We’ve never started a song like that,’ or ‘we’ve never used this kind of melody or chord structure,’ there’s always little new things you can try out. Music is pretty much endless. But we still stay true to the ARCH ENEMY sound. We don’t want to stray too far from our roots. And I say that, but r...
There are many Steve Van Zandts (although, ironically, not Steve Van Zandt, his publicist gently rebuked me, which comes as no small embarrassment since that’s what I’ve been calling him for the 35 years I’ve known him). There’s Little Steven, Stevie Van Zandt, Miami Steve, and of course Silvio Dante, Tony Soprano’s consigliore. There’s also Dr. Steven Van Zandt, awarded an honorary degree as a Doctor of Fine Arts by Rutgers University, who got a typically inspiring commencement speech in return. And UN honoree Van Zandt, recognized for his incredibly effective political activism, including his central role, with Peter Gabriel, in International Peace Day, and for making the western world viscerally aware of the horrors of apartheid with his anthemic “Sun City” song, and later film an...
