King Princess Announces New Album and Tour, Shares “For My Friends”: Stream

Three years since Cheap Queen, a new King Princess era is officially upon us. The singer-songwriter has shared “For My Friends,” the first look at her forthcoming sophomore album Hold On Baby, and announced a supporting North American tour. Few other details exist about Hold On Baby besides the fact that it will be out this year, but “For My Friends” previews the album with straight-ahead pop sheen. A love song to the artist’s oldest friends, the track melds a stop-start melody of distorted synthesizers with impassioned vocals from King Princess. “Loving me takes patience,” the singer admits, but she takes comfort in knowing her bonds are unbreakable. “I thought it would be extra fab to begin releasing this new record with a song about my two best friends from high school,” ...

Rosalía Releases New Album MOTOMAMI: Stream

¡La Rosalía! The Spanish pop star has released her new album MOTOMAMI through Columbia Records. Stream it below via Apple Music and Spotify. The Spanish-language studio set follows 2018’s El Mal Querer, which the singer crafted as her baccalaureate project to graduate from Catalonia College of Music, and includes a host of previously-released singles like “LA FAMA” featuring The Weeknd, opener “SAOKO,” the playful “CHICKEN TERIYAKI,” and intimate ballad “HENTAI.” Forgoing the flamenco sound that inspired her earlier work, Rosalía dove into all kinds of Latin sub-genres when writing the entirely guitar-free MOTOMAMI, from reggaeton and dembow to bachata and beyond. Chino Moreno’s ††† (Crosses) Share New Songs “Initiation” and “Protection”: Stream

††† (Crosses), the project of Chino Moreno and Shaun Lopez, have shared two new songs: “Initiation” and “Protection.” The duo made good on their promise to drop new music come spring, having been freshly signed to Warner Records in December. The new singles mark the first original Crosses material since 2014, following a pair of cover songs released over the past couple years. “Initiation” and “Protection” present the two sides of Crosses. The former was inspired by the infamous “The World Is Yours” scene in Scarface and is a self-described “urgent soundtrack for uncertain times”; the latter song “digs deeper into their influences and electronic textures.” Advertisement Related Video “Protection” comes with a visualizer featuring Thais Molon, who also appeared in Crosses’ previous videos&n...

Rosalía: MOTOMAMI

On Rosalía’s Saturday Night Live debut in March, she sang her pop-bachata hit “La Fama” while wearing a sequoia-sized puffer jacket and beaded mantilla. It was a strikingly dramatic look for a song trembling with betrayal, and it was immediately memed for its resemblance to a quilted comforter and shower mat (the resulting virality was, perhaps, part of the point). But the streetwear-meets-Catalonian tradition look was also a visual cue to her current mindset as a musician releasing her third album: to finesse the gap between classical and contemporary in a big and brazen fashion, with humor and cojones. Theoretically, a wide-open, globalist approach is not so different from the Spanish superstar’s astounding second album, El Mal Querer, where her electronic take on flamenco shot her to in...

Bladee and Ecco2k Deliver Surprise Joint Album, ‘Crest’

Following the release of “Amygdala,” Bladee and Ecco2k home come together once again for a surprise joint album, titled Crest. Known for their penchant for unexpected releases, the duo seemingly dropped the nine-track, fully produced by fellow Drain Gang associate Whitearmor, out of nowhere. Coming complete with a hand-drawn cover by Bladee, Crest sees the duo showcase their ethereal sonic forms over Whitearmor’s evocative beats. Aside from featuring the previously released single “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” the project is filled with standouts like “The Flag is Raised,” “Faust” and “Chao Follows.” Though it is the second track on the album that really steals the show. “5 Star Crest (4 Vattenrum)” serves as an ode to Stockholm producer Vattenrum, also known as Isak Bernalt, who died in ...
