Jared Leto Is Unsure If Theaters Would Still Exist “If It Wasn’t for Marvel Films”

Jared Leto is concerned over the “financial health” of the entertainment industry, stating that Marvel films may have greatly helped keep theaters afloat during the pandemic. Less than two months ago, the 41-year-old Dutch-born singer, who made her live debut with NIGHTWISH nearly a decade ago, stated about the musical direction of “Fire”: “It’s a pop song, so it’s not metal, it’s not rock, but it’s definitely me.” Jansen went on to explain that the track will not necessarily be representative of all the new solo music she has been working on in recent months. “I guess it’s more of a mash-up [of styles] actually,” she said, referring to her upcoming collection of solo material, “though it’s not so extreme as in genres, li...

Comedian – WITHOUT WAVES

RATING: 8.5/10 Exactly five years on from the release of their excellent “Lunar” debut, WITHOUT WAVES are in an uncompromising mood. “Good Grief” kicks off the Chicagoan quartet’s second album with a flurry of machine-gun riffs and cudgeling, syncopated beats, and the impact is undeniable. When the song takes a peculiar detour through dubbed-out post-rock before exploding again with even more unhinged intensity, this band’s subversive streak is writ large across every note. You might even call WITHOUT WAVES a progressive metal band, were it not for the fact that no prog metal band has ever sounded like this before. Songs like “Animal Kingdom” and “.algorithm” are unashamedly extreme and often fiendishly complex, but they also refu...
