George R.R. Martin Gives Update on Five HBO Shows He’s Working on Instead of Winds of Winter

May the old gods and the new bless George R.R. Martin, a man who scratched his A Song of Ice and Fire itch through HBO’s Game of Thrones series and now would rather work on anything else. In a new post on his blog, the author admitted that he hasn’t made much progress on the long-gestating sixth book in the series, The Winds of Winter, but he did gush about all the projects he finds more exciting, especially the more than five new HBO shows in development. “I know, I know, for many of you out there, only one of those projects matters, Martin wrote. “I am sorry for you. They ALL matter to me.” He added, “Yes, of course I am still working on The Winds of Winter,” the follow-up to A Dance with Dragons which has been in progress since at least 2011. “I have stated that...

Disney+ Unveils First Look of Tom Hanks in Live-Action Pinocchio Remake

Pinocchio is the latest beloved Disney classic to get the live-action remake treatment. Before it arrives exclusively on Disney+ this September, the streamer has shared the first look of the film, which stars Tom Hanks as Geppetto, the endearing wood-carver with a knack for puppetmaking. Robert Zemeckis will direct this new telling of Pinocchio, the motionless marionette who becomes transformed into a real boy (with a few caveats). While the character was first introduced in Carlo Collodi’s 1883 children’s novel The Adventures of Pinocchio, it was Disney’s 1940 cartoon that helped make him so recognizable. 13-year-old Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (The Haunting of Bly Manor) will star as Pinocchio, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt as his trusty “conscience” Jiminy Cricket. The Kyiv-Classic Symphony Orchestra performed a small concert in Ukraine’s Maidan Square Wednesday (March 9th), an act Conductor Herman Makarenko described as a call for peace amid the Russian invasion. The orchestra performed the Ukrainian national anthem as well as an excerpt from Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy,” on which the European Union’s anthem is based — both strong displays of Ukrainian sovereignty and a desire to move closer to Western Europe as Russian forces advanced on the country. “We would like to support our president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who called, calls and will call to all governments of the world (to) stop the war in Ukraine,” Makarenko said (per Reuters). While up to 70 musicians normally perform in the orchestra, Makarenko said he was only able to gather about 20 people fo...

The first trailer is out for Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series from director Deborah Chow. Scheduled to premiere exclusively on Disney+ on May 25, the Star Wars spin-off will see Ewan McGregor reprise his role as Kenobi alongside Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader. Set a decade after 2005’s Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, which marked McGregor’s last appearance in the role, the Jedi master must contend with the corruption of his former friend and apprentice Anakin Skywalker, who has become Darth Vader. The story begins on the planet Tatooine, where Kenobi escaped with an infant Luke Skywalker. “The fight is done,” McGregor says in a voice-over. “We lost. Stay hidden.” With Darth Vader in power, however, it appears that Kenobi won’t be able to stay hidden for very long. The minise...
