La Neve Announces New EP History Solved, Shares Video for New Song: Watch
La Neve, the dance-punk project of Downtown Boys songwriter and labor organizer Joey La Neve DeFrancesco, is back with a new record. The History Solved EP is out April 15, and, today, they’ve shared the Zac Puls–directed video for the title track. Watch it below. DeFrancesco said the video is “in some ways an attempt to recreate the joy and chaos of the band’s live shows at a time when we had all been unable to perform for so long. The exaggerated camera movements work to bring us back to the freeing disorientation that live music, at its best, can provide.” The EP was produced by Marco Buccelli and mastered by Heba Kadry. Fresh off the MC5’s nomination to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, co-founder/guitarist Wayne Kramer is reactivating the hugely influential Detroit rock’n’roll group with its first new music since 1972 and a spring U.S. tour, beginning May 5 in its Motor City hometown. A snippet of one new song, “Heavy Lifting,” was shared today. Somewhere in Australia, before they were a band called Wanderers, drummer Matt Birkin and guitarist Dusty Lee Stephensen met onstage at an open jam session in 2014. They decided to make a record, and, along with “other guys known from playing around the local scene”,they’ve been making soulful music with a retro vibe ever since. “Originally the band was called ‘Dusty Lee’s Wasted Wanderers’,” says Stephensen, who also serves as lead vocalist, adding that in an effort to “downsize his ego”, they shortened the name to Wasted Wanderers. “Which was fine for a while, but there were many assumptions that we might be a punk band or that we were alcoholics, whereas the intention behind the name was that we were genre-less, and trying to find a direction as a band, or in life, who knows,” he says. ...
