Rivers Cuomo Announces Weezle, a Wordle for Weezer Fans

Rivers Cuomo has announced a new word game for Weezer fans. “If you like Wordle and Weezer, you’ll probably like Weezle,” the veteran songwriter wrote on Twitter today, March 3rd. Like Wordle, the viral sensation that was recently bought by The New York Times, Weezle gives players six cracks at guessing a five letter word, using color blocks to indicate the right letter in the right place (green), a correct letter in the wrong place (yellow), or a total miss (gray). While Cuomo hasn’t fully explained the word list, today’s Weezle is certainly Weezer-adjacent. Get it right and you’ll be treated to a Weezer song. You can play for yourself here. This is just the latest technological venture for Cuomo. In January he unveiled Weezify, a Spotify for Weezer fans that held over 3,500 demos. L...

Virgin Music President Jacqueline Saturn on Navigating COVID, a Rebrand & the Distribution Craze

Before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, Caroline Distribution staffers were able to renovate their floor of the famed Capitol Tower to meet their particular needs: open floor plan, no offices, a collaborative environment where sharing ideas freely became paramount. So when office life shut down, president Jacqueline Saturn did what she could to try to preserve some of that open-air feel in which her team had begun to thrive: she invited the staff to her back yard, where a friend had a banner made with the division’s logo that hung above an area where her team could work outside. “People really needed a safe space, so that’s how it started — we could have people spaced here, people could wear their mask and be six feet apart and that was the beginning of it,” she tells Bill...

Turns out, my neck was broken. They operated on me successfully, I think. For even now, I look less like an anteater and more like a folk rock artist from the early sixties,” Newman said in a statement to his official website and Instagram account. ...

[On the other] I’ve got to do four vocals, and there are 10 songs on each album. We’re mixing next month on April 1, so I’ve got three weeks left.” He continued: “I know what it’s called – it’s called Songs of A Lost World. Boulevards: Riding Through the Mud High on Funk

Two years ago, Jamil Rashad decided after three studio albums, he was done playing small. “I wanted to be in the conversation of artists like Leon Bridges, Black Pumas, the Thundercats of the world,” Rashad eagerly shares with SPIN. So in the summer of 2020, the North Carolinian soul-singer who goes by the name Boulevards, fired off a string of direct messages to artists he admired with his new music and an invitation to collaborate. “I felt like I was on the verge of something good,” Rashad says. “It took me records to get to this point.” The faith and persistence paid off when Blake Rhein, the guitarist of Durand Jones and the Indications, sent a DM in response, agreeing to produce his new record. Electric Cowboy: Born In Carolina Mud, was released via New West Records’ imprint Normaltow...

As Samuel L. Jackson prepares to receive his Honorary Oscar at the 2022 Governors Awards this month, he revisited his Pulp Fiction Oscar loss and sole nomination  — an award he believes he should have taken home. “I should have won that one,” the veteran actor simply told The Times, adding that he was in shock to know that Bugsy was nominated after he and his wife went to see the film. “Damn! They got nominated and I didn’t? “. Like Denzel [Washington] for being a horrible cop in ‘Training Day.’ All the great stuff he did in uplifting roles like ‘Malcolm X?’ No — we’ll give it to this motherf*cker. AMC Theaters Is Charging More for ‘The Batman’ Tickets Than Other Films

AMC Theaters CEO Adam Aron has confirmed that the company will be selling The Batman tickets at a higher price in comparison to other films shown in cinema. The company is using the movie to experiment with a variable pricing method. According to Deadline Aron said in a quarterly earnings webcast, “Currently, our prices for The Batman are slightly higher than the prices we are charging for other movies playing in the same theaters at the same time. This is all quite novel in the United States, but actually AMC has been doing it for years in our European theaters. Indeed, in Europe we charge a premium for the best seats in the house — as do just about all sellers of tickets in other industries — take sports events, concerts and live theater, for example. Aron has also added that he thinks t...
