Students at Marshall, Texas HBCU Wiley College will have the opportunity to assist in producing a film alongside Tip “T.I.” Harris’ Grand Hustle Films, it was announced Tuesday (Mar. 1). The film will be bankrolled with funds awarded by The Propel Center, a recently-established HBCU technology and learning hub that provided a $300,000 grant for the project. Nearly six years ago, Tool busted out a re-imagined and extended version of their 1992 track “Opiate” live at Sacramento’s Aftershock Festival. Now (in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their EP of the same name), the rockers released the studio version of the alternate take on the track, officially titled “Opiate2.” Alongside the new track, a Blu-ray edition of the music video for “Opiate2” (the band’s first in 15 years) will release on March 18, and it’s available for pre-order now. Efforts to get critical humanitarian aid to Ukraine are underway, and one organization has created a shared file spotlighting the nation’s artistic community in need. If-Only, a UK-based publication, has launched an open-source Google Sheet containing a list of Ukranian artists and music labels with the help of public suggestions. The header of the shared document issues a call to action encouraging supporters to back the Ukrainian artists and labels via Bandcamp. At the time of writing, the list sits at a combined 130 labels and artists of all stylistic varieties from techno to ambient jazz.
