Alamo Drafthouse Screening Prince’s Sign o’ the Times Concert Film
Prince’s Sign o’ the Times is returning to the big screen via Alamo Drafthouse this spring. The theater chain has announced that a 4K restored edition of the 1987 concert film will appear for a limited run in theaters nationwide beginning Friday, April 1. Shot mostly at Prince’s famed Paisley Park studios, the Sign o’ the Times film captures the band that toured in support of the record that year. It had a short original run and, like much of Prince’s material, had not always been easily accessible online. HEALTH Cancel Russian Concerts
HEALTH recently announced a 2022 tour that will see the band perform in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe. As part of the tour, HEALTH were scheduled to perform in Russia on consecutive nights: April 29 at St. Petersburg’s Mod Club and April 30 at Moscow’s Aglomerat. In Defiance of Russian Law, Netflix Refuses to Carry Propaganda
Netflix will ignore a Russian law, expected to go into effect March 1st, that requires media platforms to carry state propaganda channels. In a statement to Deadline, the streaming platform referenced the invasion of Ukraine, stating, “Given the current situation, we have no plans to add these channels to our service.” Netflix introduced a local-language service to Russia a little more than a year ago. As an “audiovisual service” with more than 100,000 users, it falls under the jurisdiction of Russia’s media watchdog Roskomnadzor.
