RATING: 7/10 TYGERS OF PAN TANG will forever be revered for being a part of the NWOBHM movement. In spite of a few periods of hiatus, including one that lasted 12 years, the English act has been carrying the torch since they formed in 1978. Tenacity is a core facet that binds and propels any band that stands the test of time, and it served the Whitley Bay band well during the pandemic and related lockdown. The collective made the most of its downtime by recruiting new guitarist Francesco Marras and bassist Huw Holding. They also wrote and demoed their next album, in addition to creating this new, four-track EP, “A New Heartbeat”. Perhaps not essential for longtime devotees, it’s certainly one that’s enjoyable for fans of the style and who value the old ways while ap...
During an appearance on talk show host Conan O’Brien‘s podcast “Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend” this past Monday (February 21), Slash opened up about his trademark black top hat, explaining that it dates back to 1985 when he first started playing shows with GUNS N’ ROSES. “I stole it from a place called Retail Slut on Melrose [in Los Angeles],” he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “I remember this because there was two stores — there was Leathers And Treasures and Retail Slut next door. And Taime Downe, the singer from a band called FASTER PUSSYCAT, used to work at Retail Slut, so that’s how I remember the name of it. And I went in there. I didn’t have any money. I always used to wear some sort of a hat. It completed ...

What do you do after you’ve retired from a record-breaking football career? You make a movie about your own life, of course. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Brady is producing and appearing in a road trip comedy that unites iconic actresses Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field. 80 for Brady sees Tomlin, Fonda, Moreno, and Field portray a group of best friends who travel to Super Bowl LI in 2017 to see Brady lead the New England Patriots to the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history. The film was written by director Kyle Marvin and Michael Covino, who are both executive producing alongside Jeff Stott. Brady developed the...
Avril Lavigne returns to her pop punk roots this week with the release of her seventh album, Love Sux, but apparently, come release day, we’ll be missing out on a whole other batch of bangers. In a recent interview on Kyle Meredith With…, the emo queen revealed that Love Sux was originally meant to be a double album. Written in the aftermath of one-too-many failed relationships, Love Sux is a lighthearted, guitar-driven ode to those protective walls we put up once we’ve been burned by another. The forthcoming LP features 12 songs, but Lavigne was quick to share that she wrote over 30 songs with producers John Feldmann and Mod Sun for the project with the same spirit — many of which she’s still itching to release. “I have some favorites that didn’t even make the album,” Lavigne sa...
