Eddie Vedder’s Earthlings resumed their tour last night at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall after a brief pause due to someone contracting COVID. However, Vedder kicked off things off in style, by bringing up none other than Guns N’ Roses bassist and Seattle native Duff McKagan to cover The Pretenders’ “Precious.” [embedded content][embedded content] Vedder’s backing band consists of Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney, and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, and midway through the encores, Guns N’ Roses bassist McKagan joined in for the 1980 hit. Vedder was also joined by his daughters, Olivia and Harper, for a few songs, and the setlist included various covers of classic rock hits including Tom Petty’s “Room at the Top,” George Harrison’s “Isn’t It A Pity,” and...

Regina Spektor is set to release her eighth studio album, Home, before and after, and she released its first single “Becoming All Alone,” today. This is Spektor’s first new album since 2016. Recorded in upstate New York, Spektor’s newest work is out June 24 via Warner Records and says that it is the “most quintessentially ‘New York’” record she has made in years. Home, before and after was produced by John Congleton and co-produced by Spektor. “Becoming All Alone” is an all-too-fitting ode to the inevitable loneliness a massive city can render. “And I just wanna ride / But this whole world / It makes me car sick,” Spektor seers over the accompanying strings and sharp drums. But when the song closes, leaving only Spektor’s voice and piano keys, she warmly pleads for time to ...

As with all extraordinary natural occurrences, a must-own live album is a rare once-in-a-lifetime event. Against all odds—or, perhaps because of them—Pixies have achieved the epic, rarified feat of producing a live experience that you simply must add to your collection. Live In Brixton (out February 25) documents their four sold-out reunion shows at London’s historic Brixton Academy in June 2004. I spoke with guitarist Joey Santiago and drummer Dave Lovering about those legendary shows 18 years ago. “That is one of our favorite venues to play, Brixton,” Joey says. “Not to dis Omaha or anything, but it’s almost like when we go there, ‘Shit, this is home.’ First of all, London is our second home because our label was there, and just going to Brixton now is a special feeling. You enter it and...

Listen to the track here. “I’ll Make You See God” is a powerhouse track, showing off Greg Dulli’s vocals are still as strong as ever since the band’s inception in 1986. [embedded content][embedded content] “That’s one of the hardest rock songs we’ve ever done,” Greg Dulli remarked. “It was written and performed on sheer adrenalin.” This is the band’s first release since their 2017 album In Spades. The infectious rock track will also be featured in the forthcoming PlayStation game Gran Turismo 7 which will be out March 4th.
