The anticipation for Matt Reeves‘ Robert Pattinson-starring The Batman continues to pick up steam as the film’s release date nears. While no announcement has been made just yet, the Caped Crusader revealed who he would like to see play opposite of him as the villain in The Batman sequel. Pattinson said, “I’d love to do something like Court of Owls.” Court of Owls is of course referring to the 2011 DC Comics horror story that follows a hidden society that has secretly ruled Gotham for centuries from an underground lair. The storyline itself was originally developed by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, who have both kicked off a new era for Batman. Pattinson continues, “There are elements...

Press materials for Glitch Princess describe yeule as a cyborg. Though that idea isn’t explicit in the lyrics, it’s present in the way they fashion themself as if they’re not fully autonomous, as if their identity is the responsibility of some external creator. “Always want but never need/I don’t have an identity I can feed,” they sing on “Friendly Machine.” To begin to understand what’s going on inside their mind, yeule treats their existence as something veritably strange. They rhyme “amphetamine,” a stimulant, with “amitriptyline,” an antidepressant, curious about the ways we can manipulate our bodies though we’ll never be able to fully control them. Modern medicine is full of “couplings between organism and machine” wrote Donna Haraway in her 1985 essay “A Cyborg Manifesto,” a challeng...

Did anyone really think Snoop Dogg wouldn’t find a way to smoke weed during his appearance at the Super Bowl for the halftime show? While one of America’s most famous stoners didn’t light up during the actual performance itself, production cameras caught him taking a puff from a joint right before going on stage. It’s probably not a coincidence that Snoop helped Dr. Dre kick off the show by performing their collaboration “The Next Episode,” which closes with the line “Smoke weed every day.” Footage of Snoop’s warm-up was posted to Twitter by Rafa El Alcalde, a play-by-play announcer for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Watch the clip below. Snoop was a heavy contributor to easily one of the best halftime shows in Super Bowl history, performing with his mentor Dr. Dre alongside Mary J. Blige, ...
