During an appearance on the “In The Trenches With Ryan Roxie” video podcast, JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Richie Faulkner was asked if he has had any interactions with the man he replaced in the band, original PRIEST guitarist Kenneth “K.K.” Downing. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “The ones [I have had] with him — I say directly, through Twitter or whatever — have been positive. I mean, there was one… He said something about my payment structure, which was [laughs]… which was weird for someone to say. And it wasn’t true, which was a bit mindblowing.” Faulkner also commented on the fact that Downing has been vocal about his dissatisfaction over the fact that he wasn’t invited to rejoin PRIEST when Glenn Tipton announced his retir...
Swedish occult rockers GHOST will release their fifth album, “Impera”, on March 11 via Loma Vista/Concord. The band’s leader, Tobias Forge, worked on the follow-up to 2018’s “Prequelle” with producer Klas Åhlund and Swedish co-writers Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare, whose credits include Madonna and Lady Gaga. Forge discussed the “Impera” songwriting process in a new interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He said: “When you’re writing, you just wanna make a really good record, drenched in as many hooks as you can possibly muster. The only problem with trying to create records for me, besides ability, is trying not to repeat myself. I always try to write songs that I have never written before. I always try to add songs to ...
Ted Nugent has once again blasted Neil Young for pulling his music from Spotify in protest of Joe Rogan. Young demanded that his catalog be removed from Spotify in response to “fake information about vaccines” being “spread” on the platform via Rogan‘s podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience”. Young delivered an ultimatum, adding, “They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.” Spotify announced a few days later that it would pull Young‘s music catalog from its platform. Nugent weighed in on Young‘s position during yesterday’s (Friday, February 11) “Friday Free For All” edition of “The Nightly Nuge”, a news-style clip in which Ted offers his take on the news of our world every night “in a concise, fi...

Fans of Netflix’s Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Punisher, Iron Fist, and The Defenders will will no longer be able to stream on the platform after March 1st. Deadline reports that Netflix’s license for their slew of Marvel series is ending, reverting the rights over to Marvel’s parent company, Disney. Some viewers have anticipated this news since Netflix announced they’d be canceling all their Marvel series in 2019, coinciding with the launch of Disney+. While many of these shows contain more explicit content that doesn’t quite fit with the family-friendly branding of Disney+, the move seems like the best fit in order to keep all streamable Marvel content on the same platform. Fans have also speculated that Disney+ is looking to broaden their content beyond PG-rated fare in orde...
(Editor’s Note: All of the Cincinnati Bengals fans are coming out in full support of their squad. Though that’s quite obvious since, you know, they’re in the Super Bowl, they can’t believe their team made it to the Big Game. After speaking with Andy Biersack earlier in the week, here’s fellow Cincinnati son Bootsy Collins reflecting on his favorite team. The bassist’s history goes back a loooooong way. His wife, Pepperminte Patti, was a Ben-Gal, during the team’s 1980s heyday. Here are his thoughts on the game, expressed in a way that only he can.) Fear Da Tiger Super Bowl Edition, produced for our Cincinnati Bengals and inspired by our US Army soldiers, who volunteered to be a part of this song/video—reminds ...
This article originally appeared in the May 1989 issue of SPIN. I do a talk show called “TALK-BACK with Bob Larson,” syndicated in nearly 200 markets. Not just any talk show. A religious talk show that presents the Christian perspective on topics ranging from sex to suicide, racism to rock ‘n’ roll. I’m a Christian. The born-again kind. That means I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who died for our sins and rose again from the dead to give us the gift of eternal life. They play in a heavy metal rock band. Not just any metal band. A black/thrash/speed metal band with lyrics describing sex with corpses and songs offering prayers of praise to Satan. Which presumably means they are Satanists. Why else would Slayer sing, “Warriors from the gates of hell/In Lord Satan we trust” (“Show No ...

Lin-Manuel Miranda is winding up a week he’ll probably always remember as being one of the high points of his career. On Sunday, Feb. 6, he learned that the Encanto soundtrack, for which he wrote all the songs, remained atop the Billboard 200 for a fourth non-consecutive week. On Monday, Feb. 7, he learned that one of those songs, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” held at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the second week in a row. On Tuesday, Feb. 8, he learned that another of those songs, “”Dos Oruguitas,” received an Oscar nomination for best original song. That’s what you call a pretty good week. But just how rare is it? Very rare. Miranda is just the fourth individual songwriter or songwriting team to receive an Oscar nomination for best original song and have a writing credit on the No. 1...
