REZZ has recruited Subtronics for a new collaboration full of “juicy n disgusting bass noises.” On Sunday, REZZ shared that she’d sent over a track to Subtronics for a healthy dose of his signature bass. Usually when artists do this, the exchange takes a while and the track isn’t released for some time. Luckily, the prolific producers have been working at lightning speed to get this collab wrapped up. Just one day after announcing the collaboration, REZZ returned to tell fans the track was completed and ready to release “fairly soon.” If you’re looking for a preview of the track, you’ll have to be patient as the duo have not yet teased what it’ll sound like. However, REZZ confirmed that both she and Subtronics will be playing ...
SOPHIE‘s music and legacy will continue to live on forever in the universe—literally. The WGSBN (Working Group of the International Astronomical Union) recently made an announcement that an asteroid has been permanently renamed after the late electronic music pioneer, whose death following an accidental fall shocked the music community at large in January 2021. The WGSBN is the association that names minor planets and comets. Shortly after SOPHIE’s tragic death, superfan Christian Arroyo launched a Change.org petition to get a planet named after her. After artist illustrations and renditions of exoplanet TOI 1338 b were shared, fans noticed similarities between the drawings and SOPHIE’s Every Pearl’s Un-Insides album cover art. That’s when Arroyo ask...
With Sony and Marvel Studios continuing to expand on their shared Spider-verse, Hollywood star Russell Crowe has now joined the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man spin-off Kraven the Hunter. For now, details revolving around Crowe’s role remain scarce, but the Gladiator actor will be joining MCU veteran Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who’ll move on from his Quicksilver roles in Avengers: Age of Ultron to become the titular villain in the new film. Production is rumored to begin by March in the U.K. Most notably, it’s also not Crowe’s first appearance in the Marvel multiverse: the actor recently finished shooting Thor: Love and Thunder with Taika Waititi, where he’ll be portraying Zeus. Kraven the Hunter will be the third Spider-Man villain Sony and Marvel have introduced ...

Last month, Damon Albarn took heat for bluntly — and incorrectly — stating that Taylor Swift “doesn’t write her own songs.” Of course, Swift is one of the most accomplished songwriters of the last two decades, but the Gorillaz/Blur frontman attempted to reduce her to a “co-writer.” “That doesn’t count,” he said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “I know what co-writing is. Co-writing is very different to writing.” There was some back and forth on Twitter, with Swift calling Albarn’s “hot take… completely false and SO damaging,” and Albarn eventually issuing a direct apology. Still, the words were said, and many Swifties are still standing up for the musician. That includes Swift’s frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff, who lumped the tenor of Albarn’s remarks in with Donald Tru...
Mad Max: Fury Road might be one of the most acclaimed action movies in recent history, but the journey sure didn’t come easy. George Miller’s 2015 masterpiece spent years in development limbo before it finally came to life, meaning the director had time to consider hundreds of casting options. Apparently, even Eminem and Rihanna weren’t out of the question. Pop culture reporter Kyle Buchanan goes long on the behind-the-scenes drama of Fury Road in his new book, Blood, Sweat & Chrome. In an excerpt of the book published in Vulture, Miller revealed his surprising idea to cast Eminem as Max. “[Eminem had] done 8 Mile, and I found that really interesting — I thought, ‘He’s got that quality,’” Miller said. “We’d done the first Happy Feet with the late Brittany Murphy, a...
