Netflix is going way, way back in time for their next original series. Today, the streamer has shared the official trailer for Vikings: Valhalla, an action-drama series that tells the tale of some of history’s most heroic explorers. Set over a thousand years ago in the early 11th century, and over a hundred years after the events of Michael Hirst’s History Channel series Vikings, Vikings: Valhalla stars Sam Corlett (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Leif Eriksson, Frida Gustavsson as his sister Freydis Eriksdotter, and Leo Suter as Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson. The series sees the trio travel from Kattegat to England and beyond, clashing with English royalty over their conflicting Christian and pagan beliefs. Above all, the Vikings must fight for their own survival and glory on these t...
Neil Young’s war against Spotify rages on for a third week: In a new letter posted to his website, Young not only encouraged musicians to leave the platform, he also advised Spotify’s employees leave the company “before it eats up your soul.” Young’s latest swipe at Spotify came at the end of a longer letter about misinformation and corporate greed. He noted that just 5% of America’s financial assets are in the hands of millennials (as compared to 70% held by baby boomers). He also argued for a boycott of banks like Chase, Citi, and Bank of America, which contribute financially to “the mass fossil fuel destruction of Earth.” Regarding Spotify, Young advised his fellow creators to “find a better place… to be the home of your art.” So far, artists including Joni Mitchell, David Crosby, Steve...
A new Michael Jackson biopic is in the works at Lionsgate, but don’t hold your breath for a Leaving Neverland–type exposé. Produced by Graham King, the man behind the white-washed Freddie Mercury film Bohemian Rhapsody, Michael is made with the blessing of Jackson’s family, and shouldn’t be expected to take down much more than the box office. Michael is written by John Logan, known for such films as Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator and Hugo and Sam Mendes’ Skyfall. John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of Jackson’s estate, will produce the film alongside King, who told Deadline he’s known the Jackson family for several decades. “I first met the Jackson family in 1981 and I’m humbled to bring their legacy to the big screen,” King said. “Sitting at Dodger Stadium w...
For those not particularly invested in sports, Dave Grohl has a different idea for Super Bowl Sunday. Following February 13th’s big game, Foo Fighters, somehow still finding new ways to infiltrate every aspect of society, will play a virtual reality concert in Meta’s Horizon Venues app. “Foo Fighters love a challenge — from playing the biggest stages in the world to the tiniest clubs to making movies and miniseries… We’ve pretty much done it all,” Dave Grohl said in a statement. “But we’ve never collaborated with Mark Romanek on a conceptual set of songs (including one being played live for the first time ever) for a worldwide audience, where everyone has the best seats in the house thanks to the most badass VR tech… until now. Join us when we cross that one off the FF bucket list!” Foo Fi...
This boat is so dock & roll. Despite that terrible nautical pun, take a look inside “Galaxy,” a refurbished superyacht inspired by the fabled Burning Man festival. Originally constructed in 2005 by Italian shipbuilding company Benetti, the 184-foot superyacht recently underwent a five-month refitting at the behest of two anonymous owners and longtime Burners, according to Robb Report. “Galaxy” manifests the empyrean nature of Burning Man with its bold interior design. The entire main deck was transformed into a nightclub akin to a “floating private member’s club,” complete with a bespoke DJ nook and kaleidoscopic, adjustable RGB lighting. Njord by Bergman Design House Just like Burning Man, “Galaxy” is sensory overload. Case in poin...
