Pete Davidson seems to be popping up everywhere lately. From his regular haunt, Saturday Night Live, to ads for Smartwater and Moose Knuckles, to just about everywhere in the celebrity ecosystem for dating Kim Kardashian. So it’s not exactly a surprise that the king of Staten Island is making his big game commercial debut on Super Bowl Sunday — and he’s bringing his mom. Davidson is featured opposite NFL star-turned-New England Patriots linebacker coach Jerod Mayo who takes a star turn, thanks to expert tackling skills and how well his last name pairs with Hellmann’s brand mayonnaise. Dubbed Mayo x Mayo, the spot, which will debut on NBC during the fourth quarter, finds Mayo “tackling” food waste and suggesting alternative uses for food that is normally tossed. It pays homage to Lester Spe...

Jonny Greenwood sat down for a conversation with Terry Gross on the latest episode of NPR’s Fresh Air. He discussed his approach to film scores, specifically noting his recent work on Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza, Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog, and Pablo Larrain’s Spencer. Listen to the full episode below. In addition to highlighting his most recent scores, they also discussed works from across his career as a composer. At one point, Gross played an excerpt of his Phantom Thread score and asked him how he achieved the piano’s muffled sound. “There’s a roll of felt laid between the hammers and the strings, which is why it sounds like that, and it’s a little bit out of tune just because I’m a bit lazy with my booking a piano tuner, I’m afraid,” he said. In our communication age, misinformation is the problem. Ditch the misinformers. Find a good clean place to support with your monthly checks. You have the real power. Use it. To the baby boomers, I say 70 percent of the country’s financial assets are in your hands compared with just about 5 percent for millennials. You and I need to lead. In our age of Climate Chaos, I say ditch the companies contributing to the mass fossil fuel destruction of Earth. For their continued funding of the fossil fuel damage even as the global temperature keeps climbing, I say take your money from the accounts of these American banks today: ChaseCitiBank of AmericaWells Fargo Join me as I move my money away from the damage causers or you will unintentionally be one of them. You have the power to change the worl...
Fans recently petitioned for a circumbinary exoplanet to be named after the late SOPHIE. The International Astronomical Union’s Working Group Small Body Nomenclature (WGSBN) has now officially named an asteroid after SOPHIE. Originally dubbed RE1, it was discovered in 1980 by Antonín Mrkos at the Kleť Observatory in the Czech Republic. It’s now known as “Sophiexeon.” “SOPHIE was known as an electronic music pioneer whose futuristic style changed the landscape of pop music in the early 21st century,” the IAU’s announcement reads. “SOPHIE has influenced so many of us, and now she will forever be part of the cosmos,” petition starter Christian Arroyo wrote. HBO Max has canceled its order of 24 new episodes of The Boondocks, Deadline reports. The Warner Media streaming platform had originally ordered two seasons of the animated series from creator Aaron McGruder and Sony Pictures Animation back in 2019. The Boondocks series—based on a comic strip first printed in The Source magazine—launched in 2005 on Adult Swim, Cartoon Network’s late-night adult animation programming block. It starred Regina King, John Witherspoon, and Cedric Yarbrough, and included voice cameos from Ghostface Killah, Xzibit, Yasiin Bey, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, and Lil Wayne. The show aired for four seasons, the last of which aired in 2014 without McGruder’s involvement. That year, Adult Swim released a mixtape to coincide with the show’s final season featuring Killer Mik...

Screaming Butterfly Entertainment recently announced a partnership with former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson and his Ellefson Films on the upcoming feature-length documentary “This Was My Life: The Story Of Nick Menza”. The film is being produced/directed and edited by Holly Mollohan from Screaming Butterfly Entertainment. Speaking to Rock You Radio about how he came to be involved with the project, Ellefson said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “It’s a labor of love, the whole thing. We’re doing it, basically, to just try to raise money. The funds will then go to his family; he’...
In a new interview with Liz Barnes of Planet Rock‘s “My Planet Rocks”, SCORPIONS singer Klaus Meine was asked if the title of the band’s new album, “Rock Believer”, is a message of sorts for the group’s fans around the world. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Maybe that’s because of the pandemic, it’s all a dialogue with the fans. Especially [since] we are blocked away from the world of touring for such a long time, it’s like you wanna stay in touch with your fanbase. And through the social media today — with the Facebooks, Instagrams and even TikTok [laughs], whatever comes along the way — you have a chance to be in touch with your fanbase and it’s a pretty cool dialogue. You get some feedback to wha...
HELLOWEEN singer Andi Deris was asked in a new interview with the “Metal Command” podcast if he thinks the reunited expanded classic lineup of the German power metal band will eventually make another album to follow up last year’s acclaimed self-titled effort. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I would strongly hope so. I mean, as long as the vibe is great, chemistry is great and everybody’s having fun with each other, it would be a crime not to do so and not to plan for a future together. “‘Pumpkins United’ is not only the name for the last tour, I think that’s something like a brand,” he continued. “HELLOWEEN ‘Pumpkins United’, that’s something like a band — a new or something like [that]...
