Kenny Chesney’s 2022 Here and Now Tour Gets Bigger With 20 Amphitheater Shows

Kenny Chesney is ramping up his Here and Now 2022 tour even more, adding 20 amphitheater shows to his previous 21 stadium shows set for this year. The tour, which launches April 23 in Tampa, Fla., at the Raymond James Stadium, now includes amphitheater stops in Alabama, Indiana, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Texas and more. His Here and Now 2022 tour will conclude with a long-standing Chesney tradition: two shows at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., this year set for Aug. 26-27. “There is something about amphitheaters that creates an immediacy that is so intimate,” Chesney said via a statement. “The energy is very different from a stadium show, and it almost opens the songs up in completely different ways. It’s pretty cool to feel that difference between the two kinds of venues, but I c...

Fat Joe’s Legal Battle Over ‘All the Way Up’ Isn’t Over Quite Yet

A man who unsuccessfully sued Fat Joe and Remy Ma over allegations that he helped create the 2016 hit “All the Way Up” is now heading to a federal appeals court in an effort to revive his lawsuit. Eric Elliott claims he co-authored the song and has been cheated out of proper compensation and ownership rights, but a federal judge ruled last month that there was “no dispute” that Fat Joe had already paid him for his alleged contributions to the song. Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news On Friday, Elliott signaled that the battle isn’t over just yet. He filed a notice that he will appeal the ruling to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, a process that could take more than a year. His specific arguments are not yet available, but will be ...

We Need to Talk About Spotify

In late January, Neil Young issued an ultimatum to Spotify in response to The Joe Rogan Experience’s willful platforming of vaccine misinformation—resulting in Young’s catalog’s swift takedown from the streaming service. His critique quickly snowballed, with other notable artists removing their own music in protest of Spotify’s profit off Rogan’s message via an exclusive, $100 million-dollar deal—including Joni Mitchell, Nils Lofgren, Crosby, Stills, & Nash, and india.arie (who significantly noted Rogan’s “language around race”). Music fans en masse showed their support, opting to #DeleteSpotify and contributing to a company market loss reported between $2.1 billion to $4 billion—meaning an estimated $1 billion plummet in net worth for founder and CEO Daniel Ek due to his stake in the ...

Andy Shauf Shares New Songs “Satan” and “Jacob Rose”: Listen

When I was young, there were a few years where I wasn’t allowed to celebrate Hallowe’en. The church that I grew up in was saying that Hallowe’en was ‘The Devil’s Day’ and that it had its roots in satanic rituals. After a few years of this, my parents realized it was a bit silly to deny us our free candy and let us resume. The Christianity that I was brought up in said that believers went to heaven and non-believers went to hell. A sort of cartoon-like simplification of ancient texts. So with the lyrics of this song, I was trying to take this cartoon-like simplification of life (and death) and pair it with a cartoon-like version of this Christian hell. Where after you complete a long and disciplined life, you find yourself holding a bite-sized choc...

Operation Ivy’s Jesse Michaels and Tim Armstrong Reunite to Perform “Sound System”

For only the second time since Operation Ivy’s disbandment in 1989, frontman Jesse Michaels and guitarist Tim Armstrong performed music together live on stage. On Saturday night, Michaels made a surprise appearance at Los Angeles’ Musack Rock and Roll Carnival, where he joined Armstrong’s band The Interrupters for a performance of Op Ivy’s “Sound System.” Michaels previously shared the stage with Armstrong and fellow Op Ivy bandmate Matt Freeman during a Rancid concert in 2006, where the trio reunited to play “Unity” and “Sound System.” During a podcast appearance last month, Michaels said he “wouldn’t object to” a full-fledged Operation Ivy reunion, but added that “I don’t know if it could happen for various practical reasons.” Advertisement Related Video “We have gotten offers, other peo...

Nandi Bushell Honors Neil Peart with Masterful Drum Cover of Rush’s “Tom Sawyer”: Watch

Nandi Bushell continues to amaze us. After conquering Tool’s complex “Forty Six & 2” in December, the 11-year-old prodigy is back with a commanding drum cover of the Rush classic “Tom Sawyer.” Not too many seasoned drummers would dare attempt to match the virtuoso drumming of the late Neil Peart, but the young Nandi once again proves why she is a musical force of nature. With a smile on her face, Nandi doesn’t miss a beat as she plays along to the iconic prog-rock song. “This one is for you Professor Peart,” wrote Nandi in the YouTube description. “I wanted to try a Rush song that would really challenge me. I watched an interview where the Professor said Tom Sawyer ‘remains so difficult to play.’ So I thought I would give it a try. It’s actually really fun to play. I really hope I have...
