Black Country, New Road Frontman Isaac Wood Departs Band Days Before New Album Release

We have some news to share concerning the future of the band. Please read on for information on upcoming shows, but it seems right to pass on this message from Isaac first. Hello everyone, I have bad news which is that I have been feeling sad and afraid too. And I have tried to make this not true but it is the kind of sad and afraid feeling that makes it hard to play guitar and sing at the same time. Together we have been writing songs and then performing them, which at times has been an incredible doing, but more now everything happens that I am feeling not so great and it means from now I won’t be a member of the group anymore. To be clear: this is completely in spite of six of the greatest people I know, who were and are wonderful in a sparkling way. If you are reading this maybe you ha...

The Range Shares New Song “Bicameral”: Listen

Producer James Hinton has shared a new song as the Range. The track is titled “Bicameral” and it arrives with a surreal animated video. Check it out below. Hinton’s most recent album as the Range was 2016’s Potential, which he followed with a documentary counterpart titled Superimpose. He joined Tourist (aka William Phillips) for the collaboration “Last” in 2020. In a press release, Hinton shared a statement about the origins of “Bicameral”: “Bicameral” represents the beginning of a move into a more ethereal space in my music. I began working on it while on a retreat in Nicaragua in 2016, and finished it in 2020 in Vermont, and so it uniquely captures a lot of the extreme positive and negative memories over that time. In this song the original vocal that I sampled—a song called “The Road” ...

GEORGE LYNCH And JEFF PILSON’s Next ‘Heavy Hitters’ Album Will Feature A More ‘Raw ’70s Rock’ Vibe

Guitar-shredding virtuoso George Lynch recently reteamed with his former DOKKEN bandmate Jeff Pilson for a set of new studio recordings that turn pop music classics into powerful metal anthems. The follow-up to 2020’s “Heavy Hitters”, tentatively titled “Heavy Hitters 2”, will be released later in the year via Deadline Music, a subsidiary of Cleopatra Records, Inc. In a new interview with SW Wall Interviews, Pilson stated about how the idea for the first “Heavy Hitters” LP came about (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “George had done a record and he was re-releasing it through another label, which was Cleopatra Records. And the label wanted to add a bonus song to it, and they wanted him to cover this pop song. So he said ‘yes.’...

Carpe Diem – SAXON

RATING: 7.5/10 British heavy metal icons SAXON have remained venerable vaunted veterans through four decades in large part due to their charismatic live presence. The band’s post-2000 studio output has remained consistent, with new albums being reliably released every few years. The majority of those records have been made up of comfort-food metal anthems re-establishing the group as having a few tricks left up their sleeve. And while they are enjoyable when listening, they ultimately end up with maybe one or two songs entering the live setlist. The band’s 23rd studio album, “Carpe Diem”, seems destined to join that lengthy list of records that provide a few moments of heavy metal triumph, showing off what propelled SAXON to their legendary status but never fully ri...
