As Matt Reeves gears up for the release of The Batman, the director reveals just how he was able to create his dream script. In a recent interview with Esquire, Reeves revealed, “I’ve always felt that the Batman story was a very special story. He’s not really a superhero. He’s someone who’s driven by the pain of his past. He’s trying to find some way to make sense of his life. It’s a very psychological story. This is the character I relate to most.” For the longest time, Reeves has had his own version of the story he was hoping to tell. When handed the Ben Affleck script Reeves said, “I read a script that they had that was a totally valid take on the movie. It was very action-driven. It was very deeply connected to the DCEU, with other major characters from other movies and other comics po...

RATING: 8.5/10 Veterans of the Swedish death metal underground, SARCASM first formed in 1990, split in 1994 and re-emerged in 2015 with a revamped sound and Hell’s flames blazing in their eyes. Three albums later and it seems likely that “Stellar Stream Obscured” is exactly the record the band would have dreamt about making back in the day: epic, grotesque and steeped in the grand, grim traditions of MORBID ANGEL, DISSECTION and POSSESSED, it’s also a ferociously contemporary piece of work. “Through The Crystal Portal” may be the most unhinged album opener in recent memory. Spikily melodic, but relentlessly violent and willfully angular and obtuse, it’s the kind of sonically punishing old-school riot that keeps the arcane metal flame burning throug...
California rockers PAPA ROACH have released the official music video for their anthemic new single, “Stand Up”. Produced by Jason Evigan (Dua Lipa, G-Eazy, MAROON 5), the song brings massive energy and unique arrangements to singer Jacoby Shaddix‘s uplifting and motivating lyrics. The track seeks to provide a signature, bouncing anthem for a world that is energized to stand up against injustice, complacency, and opposition, further exercising their agency towards the obstacles in this new year. “‘Stand Up’ is inspired by the social unrest of marginalized people throughout the world. It’s about feeling of wanting to give up when you’re backed against the wall. For the ones that have been oppressed for so long that a sense of hopelessness is al...
In a recent interview with the METALLICA fan-club magazine So What!, the band’s former bassist Jason Newsted was asked how he dealt with the huge commercial success of METALLICA‘s 1991 self-titled album — better known as the “Black Album” — when it first happened. He said: “All of us experienced some kind of swelly head at different levels for different amounts of time through this three-year span. [It was] inevitable and impossible for it not to happen… I remember me personally, when I went shopping with [METALLICA guitarist] Kirk [Hammett] in Paris, and he took to me a couple of nice, nice stores, and I threw down a lot of money for some nice clothes and shoes and stuff. I’d never done that before. And I thought I was the shit… So I did get caught in t...

Tim Farriss, founding guitarist with new wave icons INXS, is considering his next move after losing a legal battle against the owners and operators of a vessel on which he lost a finger. Farriss launched proceedings after the ring finger on his left hand was severed in a gruesome boating accident in Sydney’s Akuna Bay back in January 2015, when it was caught in a chain as he attempted to drop anchor. The rocker was treated at the Royal North Shore hospital for a week, and required several surgeries to reattach the digit. Willem Dafoe brings some seriously big Green Goblin energy to this week’s Saturday Night Live promo. Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news “Oh man! I love this sketch already,” Dafoe giggles as Redd gently explains that they’re filming the promo, not the show. “Hey, whatever you call it. It’s hilarious!” In the second bit the scene turns a bit dark as Redd and Perry seem to be working out some previously private drama. “Katy, can’t believe you’re back,” a distressed Redd says with a sigh about the singer’s upcoming (Jan. 29) fourth go-round as musical guest. “Why? Does that scare you?,” Perry — wear...

Grimes discussed “Shinigami Eyes” in a new interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. She said: Well, actually, OK, so this song, I’m not sure what I should say or not say. I always say a bunch of stupid shit and get in trouble, but either way. This is the label executive decision song. I love the record, but it’s just like, everyone’s like, what’s the deeper meaning? And it’s like, well, Nino Angelo just really had just watched Death Note and really liked it. Basically, I wrote the whole space opera thing and this is the only song that wasn’t this big narrative plot. Anyway, I actually do re...

The couple are teasing the record by sharing the new song “Mayo” alongside a music video by Sylvain Dumais.
