Michigan Police Officers Sued Over Targeting Black Athletes In A Coverup

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Matthew Hatcher / Getty The police department in a small town in Michigan is facing heavy scrutiny after a lawsuit levied against it by a former high school student, charging that officers were racist in targeting Black athletes while covering up a hazing scandal. According to reports, the lawsuit was brought against the Warren, Michigan police department by Cleveland Harville, a former student at Warren De Lasalle High School. Harville was one of seven Black male students at the all-boys Catholic high school who were charged with misdemeanors related to a hazing scandal in 2020. Jay DeMarcus’ Red Street Records Launches Country Division

Rascal Flatts‘ Jay DeMarcus is expanding his Red Street brand with the launch of Red Street Country after launching the company as a Christian label, Red Street Records, in 2018. DeMarcus, who is Red Street’s owner/CEO, and owner/chairman Dan Crockett are celebrating the label’s expansion with a press conference Thursday (Jan. 27) at the label’s Nashville headquarters. DeMarcus and Crockett are funding both labels, which are self-distributed. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones revealed that after more than 30 years, 11 albums and 10 EPs, the group is breaking up. The ska band took to their website on Thursday (Jan. 27) to announce the news in a statement. “After decades of brotherhood, touring the world and making great records together we have decided not to continue on as a band,” the statement read. “Above all, we want to express our sincere gratitude to every single one of you who have supported us. Kanye West has announced Donda 2 via his Instagram. According to the post, the new album will be executive produced by Future and get released on February 22. Check it out below. West and Future recently performed together at Rolling Loud California. The rappers collaborated in 2014 on the Honest song “I Won.” Donda 2 had been mooted by Steven Victor—the former chief operating offices of West’s G.O.O.D.
