LAMB OF GOD’s WILLIE ADLER Sits Out SHIPROCKED Cruise, Ex-MACHINE HEAD Guitarist PHIL DEMMEL Steps In

LAMB OF GOD has recruited Phil Demmel (VIO-LENCE, ex-MACHINE HEAD) to play guitar for the band on this year’s ShipRocked cruise, which set sail from Galveston, Texas on January 22 and includes stops in Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. Demmel is filling in for LAMB OF GOD‘s regular guitarist Willie Adler who was unable to make the trip for reasons that have not been disclosed. Since Carnival Cruise Line‘s Have Fun Be Safe protocols and procedures currently require that guests are fully vaccinated and tested before their cruise on all sailings through February 28, 2022, some fans have speculated that Adler‘s COVID-19 vaccination status was the main reason he was excluded from this year’s ShipRocked. Fan-filmed video footage and photos of LAMB OF GOD‘s Janua...

TNT Guitarist To Release First Solo Album In Six Years, ‘Bigfoot TV’

TNT guitarist Ronni Le Tekrø will release his first solo album in six years, “Bigfoot TV”, on March 18 through TBC Records via Cargo Records. Backed by Ronni‘s tight band, “Bigfoot TV” sounds inspired and vibrant, with Le Tekrø‘s brilliant guitar work threading through the album and a musical nod to everyone from TNT to THIN LIZZY, THE BEATLES, David Bowie and Ronni‘s own progressive rock albums. Le Tekrø is considered one of the world’s most influential metal guitarists, first and foremost with his band TNT, but also in collaboration with jazz guitarist Terje Rypdal and as a diligently used studio musician. Le Tekrø has sold over four million albums with TNT and was named one of the world’s 25 best guitarists in its genre in 2009. The ...

Difficult Fun: January 2022’s Best Punk

Welcome to the future – like the past, and just as shitty. As the days turn into months and my ability to tolerate the unjust mundanities of everyday life thins with the knowledge of each new COVID-19 strain, this intro section has begun to feel like a method acting experiment in which I try to mimic the frustrations of the music worthy of discussion below. Luckily, we’re not fully there yet – punk is best for exorcising demons, not giving into them – and parody is no way to begin the new year. So, here’s an exercise (the other one – see what I did there, Satanists?) in optimism. One of the best pieces of writerly advice I ever received was not directed at me: a friend, who wrote a very brilliant book about sex and consent, mentioned avoiding modern slang/contemporary conventions in her wr...

Governors Ball Announces 2022 Lineup Featuring Kid Cudi, Halsey, J. Cole and More

Festival announcement season is upon us, and New York’s Governors Ball didn’t want to be left out in the cold. The massive three-day lineup is headlined by Kid Cudi, Halsey, and J.Cole, while featuring other notable acts like Migos, Beabadoobee, Glass Animals, Clairo and a whole lot of others. Perhaps the most unique name on the list is Diesel, better known as NBA legend and endlessly amusing analyst Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq Daddy hits the stage on June 11, while the festival runs that entire June 10-12 weekend at Citi Field. No word yet if Charles Barkley will be attending or hosting a cook-off at the event, but we can dream. At any rate, other artists on the bill include Flume, Playboi Carti, Roddy Ricch, Glass Animals, Migos, Jack Harlow, Clairo, 100 Gecs, Japanese Breakfast, Becky G, Bla...

The Weather Station Announces How Is It That I Should Look At The Stars, Shares ‘Endless Time’

Just a year ago, The Weather Station released one of our favorite albums of 2021, Ignorance, and today singer-songwriter Tamara Lindeman announced that she’s prepping its companion piece, How Is It That I Should Look At The Stars. “When I wrote Ignorance, it was a time of intense creativity, and I wrote more songs than I ever had in my life,” Lindeman explained in a statement. “The songs destined to be on the album were clear from the beginning, but as I continued down my writing path, songs kept appearing that had no place on the album I envisioned.  Songs that were simple, pure; almost naive.  Songs that spoke to many of the same questions and realities as Ignorance, but in a more internal, thoughtful way. So I began to envision How Is It That I Should Look At The Stars, a...

Netflix Stock Continues Downward Trend After Slowing Subscriber Growth Reports

Since last week’s announcement of Netflix’s Q4 earnings in 2021, the streaming giant revealed that it was unable to meet subscriber growth expectations. The news was reflected in the 20% shares drop, which marked the lowest level of shares for Netflix since June 2020. Now Netflix stocks have dropped almost 3% on Monday, continuing the downward trend, which also suggests that the streaming giant is expected to have a much weaker Q1 start. When the markets opened this week, the streamer opened at $383.91 USD, which fell from $397.50 USD at closing last Friday. At one point, Netflix fell to $351.46 USD, which was its lowest point of the day and over the past year. While last Thursday saw Netflix report a net gain of 8.28 million subscribers for Q4 of 2021, Netflix previously forecasted 8.5 mi...

Robert Pattinson Describes How His Version of Batman Differs From His Predecessors

Robert Pattinson sat down in a recent interview with MovieMaker to describe how his version of the caped crusader differs from his predecessors. Pattinson admitted that his Batman might be darker than what audiences expect. When discussing how his role came about, Pattinson shared, “I had no idea that Matt [Reeves] had seen Good Time and thought, ‘I want to do a really dirty, dirty, slimy Batman.’” Director Matt Reeves also added in the same conversation that felt an immediate connection with Pattinson for the script, “It was a kind of almost fated thing. Of course, at that point, we were still working on the script. And so there was nothing to share. But I met with him probably about eight months later, and I shared the script, and we just really connected.” The comments of Pattinson’s da...

Greg Daniels Shares There Is No Deal For ‘King of The Hill’ Reboot Yet

King of the Hill fans should hold their excitement for the reboot, as Greg Daniels revealed that the revival of the beloved animated show is “still not 100%.” In an interview with Collider, where Daniels spoke about season two of Space Force, the King of the Hill co-creator shared that he and Mike Judge are still in the process of actually getting the reboot out there. “Well, here’s the weird thing about the way that article ran is… there isn’t any change yet,” he said, referring to The Hollywood Reporter piece. “We don’t have a deal to do it. I’m not exactly sure if we phrased it wrong, maybe, but it’s still not 100%.” He did explain, however, that the possible reboot may feature a time jump and could take place 15 years after the finale, where “the characters are a bit older.” Daniels ad...

In his clip for the remix visuals to “FWMGAB,” French and Moneybagg take to Cuba to rent out a fancy mansion where they fill the pool with a gang of thick Cuban women who have the physical assets that would’ve kept Tony Montana from leaving the island and chasing the American Dream in Scarface. From Hip-Hop to R&B, Tinashe shows us some dance moves while donning a futuristic outfit that drips off her body in her clip to “X / I Can See The Future.” Check out the rest of today’s drops including work from Che Noir featuring Ransom &...
