Marvin Lee Aday, known to the world as Meat Loaf, died on Thursday night at the age of 74. He was a star of the stage and the screen, in classics like Rocky Horror Picture Show and Fight Club. But more than anything, he will be remembered as the most over-the-top star of rock’s most over-the-top decade. ”Our hearts are broken,” said his family in a Facebook post early Friday morning announcing the singer’s death. Meat Loaf is survived by his wife Deborah and two daughters from a previous marriage. TMZ reported that he had contracted COVID-19 at the time of his death. Fans of the Fugees will be disappointed to learn that the hip-hop group has canceled its upcoming anniversary tour due to the pandemic. The tour was first announced in September in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Fugees’ 1996 sophomore album The Score. The following month, it was postponed until 2022. In their latest announcement, the trio of Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel said that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has made “touring conditions difficult” and that they hope to be able to reschedule the tour sometime in the future if conditions allow. The group expressed gratitude for the one show they did play together in New York the day after announcing the tour, their first performance since 2006. The full statement from the Fugees reads as follows: We anticipate a...
Lana Del Rey has released a new single titled “Watercolor Eyes” off of the Euphoria soundtrack. The track was teased last week and will appear in the third episode of the HBO Max show’s second season. I think that you taste like rock candy / sweet like beaches make me all sandy,” Del Rey sings. “Why do you leave me with watercolor eyes?” The lyrics appear to be a reference to Del Rey’s unreleased album Rock Candy Sweet. The LP was billed as the original follow-up to Chemtrails over the Country Club. In a since-deleted Instagram post, the singer said that it would release June 1 of last year, but the project was apparently shelved. Arriving on Sunday, January 23, the upcoming Euphoria episode promises a closer look at the origin story of Cal Jacobs, who is portrayed by Eric Dane. The rest o...
Adele shocked fans on Thursday (Jan. 20) when she took to Instagram to explain that her Las Vegas residency — which was set to open the next day — had been postponed indefinitely due to production delays caused by COVID-19, fighting through tears as she explained, “We’ve run out time.” The “Easy on Me” singer told fans “My show ain’t ready” to open on Friday due to “delivery delays and COVID” spreading amongst the team of people working with the artist to launch her first performance series in a half decade. Adele said she was embarrassed and “gutted” to have to make the announcement just one day before the 24-show run opened. Last month, Billboard predicted that the January-to-April weekend concert series would net Adele $2 million per show and help her avoid exposure to COVID that could ...
