My Bloody Valentine have taken to social media to alert Spotify listeners that the band’s lyrics shared via the streaming platform are inaccurate. “Just noticed that Spotify has put fake lyrics up for our songs without our knowledge,” they wrote. “These lyrics are actually completely incorrect and insulting. We’re not sure where they got them from, probably one of those bullshit lyrics sites on the internet.” Pitchfork has reached out to Spotify. Last year, the band announced a reissue campaign that brought most of their previously omitted catalog to streaming services. They also revealed that they’ve been working on two new albums. Brazilian singer Elza Soares has died at the age of 91, her family and team reported on her official social media pages. Soares died today of natural causes at her home in Rio de Janeiro. “The beloved and eternal Elza has been laid to rest, but she will forever be in the history of music and in our hearts and the thousands of fans around the world. Like Elza Soares’ wanted, she sang until the very end,” the statement said. Elza Gomes da Conceição was born in 1930 in Rio de Janeiro’s Moça Bonita favela. Her father worked in a factory and her mother was a washerwoman. The family was impoverished but music, whether played by her father on guitar or on the radio, provided joy. Adele has announced that her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency has been postponed. The singer broke the news today (January 20) in a tearful Instagram video. “I’m so sorry, but my show ain’t ready,” she said in the clip. “We’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID. Half my crew half my team are down with COVID, they still are, and it’s been impossible to finish the show. And I can’t give you what I have right now. The 35th annual Tibet House US Benefit Concert has been announced. The event will take place on March 3, and feature performances from Patti Smith, Laurie Anderson, Angélique Kidjo, Keanu Reeves, Trey Anastasio, Margo Price, Tenzin Choegyal, the Fiery Furnaces, and others, selected by curator and artistic director Philip Glass. Iggy Pop and New Order’s Bernard Sumner will also make appearances. The presentation will be virtual, streaming on Mandolin for the second year in a row. All proceeds will benefit Tibet House US. Triple-Platinum dance music producer Hayden James has announced the release date of LIFTED, his long-awaited sophomore album. Scheduled to drop on April 8th, LIFTED will be James’ first full-length album since 2019’s Between Us, which spawned his global hit “NUMB.” The record is slated to release by way of James’ longtime label, Future Classic. METALLICA has stepped in to help a Los Angeles street performer after his drum kit was stolen. Sheriff Drumman, who is famous for playing drums from the bed of his truck, had both his truck and drums stolen from in front of his Hawthorne apartment in December. Although he eventually he got his truck back, the drums were gone. According to the Los Angeles Times, Sheriff spent nearly six years custom-building the four-wheeled drum set, hand-crafting the metal that made the setup possible, cutting, shaping and bending each slab before adding the details and the bright “#SheriffDrumman” sign above the vehicle.
