2022 Grammy Awards to Be Held April 3rd in Las Vegas

Following its postponement earlier this month, the Recording Academy has revealed a new date and location for the 2022 Grammys. The event will now be held April 3rd at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena (via Variety). Originally set for January 31st at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena (formerly the Staples Center), the Grammy Awards were postponed due to the COVID-19 Omicron surge. In moving to the MGM Grand and the new date, the Grammys have bumped the previously scheduled CMT Awards from the venue. That ceremony will be rescheduled to November. Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena hosted the Latin Grammys back in November, so the Academy is already familiar with the setup. That should make it easier to bring in returning host Trevor Noah and scores of music’s biggest names for the event. ...

Elvis Costello Says He “Doesn’t Like Much Rock Music” Released Now

Today in Old White Guy Opinions: Elvis Costello doesn’t care much for rock music these days. The 67-year-old pop rock legend — who just released his 32nd studio album, The Boy Named If — said in a recent interview that he thinks modern rock has lost its spark. “I don’t like much rock music,” Costello admitted to Rolling Stone. “I like rock ‘n’ roll. I think if you lose the roll part, a lot of the fun goes out of it.” The “Alison” singer continued: “When people ask me, ‘What’s your favorite record?’ I usually don’t name any electric-guitar records made in the last 30 years because the beat is so square… I like things that float a bit or swing a bit — whether it’s rock ‘n’ roll or actual jazz that swings or even the way Hank Williams records lope.” Advertisement Related Video Costello w...

Former DJ Turned Skiier Benjamin Alexander to Make Olympic Debut Next Month

Benjamin Alexander’s decision to put down the decks and pick up the poles has begun to pay off. Alexander, formerly a DJ and resident of Burning Man’s iconic Robot Heart community, made a dramatic lifestyle change in 2018 when he opted to retire his DJing career in order to focus on skiing full-time. After a ski trip in early 2018, Alexander became consumed with the idea of pursuing the sport in a professional capacity. After subsequently traveling to Pyongyang to view the 2018 Winter Olympics, he set his sights high. “I ended up going to the Winter Olympics in Pyongyang as a spectator and noticed that there were only three Jamaican athletes, which I was shocked by,” Alexander told Resident Advisor. “The kernel of this idea was formed. Maybe I could ...

Grammys Moved to April, Will Take Place in Las Vegas

The Grammys have a new date. After being originally scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on January 31, the Grammys are headed to Sin City. The ceremony will now take place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 3 at 8 pm EST. This is the first time that the ceremony won’t take place in music hubs New York City, Los Angeles or Nashville. Another fun fact: this will be the latest the Grammys have taken place in any calendar year. The previous latest time was April 13, 1965. For those of you keeping score, that was before Highway 61 Revisited came out and Bob Dylan was merely the target of scorn by all folkies. Now back to the present day, Trevor Noah will host the ceremony just as he did in 2021. Here’s what Grammys boss Harvey Mason, Jr said in a statement: We are exci...
