John Cooper, the frontman for the Grammy-nominated Christian rock band SKILLET, spoke to Brutal Planet Magazine about the lyrical inspiration for the group’s upcoming album, “Dominion”. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “So much of what the album is about is facing the challenges that are inside. In other words, there are challenges from outward. Me and you and everybody listening, we do not have the power to end COVID. Me and you don’t have the power to end the economic stuff that’s happening or inflation or the fact that some people — I don’t know — may be losing their jobs, for whatever reason that may be; we don’t have the power to do anything about that. But we do have the power to control what happens in our hearts and in ou...
In a recent interview with the “Breaking Absolutes With Peter Orullian” podcast, Canadian singer, songwriter and producer Devin Townsend was asked if he ever had any formal training to help him effortlessly flip between orthodox choral singing techniques and guttural screaming. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I never wanted to be a singer — ever. When I was younger, I just wanted to play guitar. And then when we looked for singers, when we went hire singers as kids — when we were teens — they were just the worst of us; almost without fail, they were just terrible people. And I remember thinking, ‘Okay, well, I’ll just sing until I can find somebody.’ And I had many jobs as a teen too — I worked in dozens of restaurants or stainless st...
Justin Bieber’s “Peaches” is a well-arranged pop song, accompanied with the right opening piano cuts along with the sturdily baked bass instrumentation underneath, that also gives it a clear structure assembled to attest Justin Bieber’s golden musical experience over the years. Peaches is a classic that encompasses collaboration between Canadians and an American creator which includes, Giveon and Daniel Caesar’s effort. Justin Bieber’s “Love You Different” is more of JB professing how he’d cherish and love his woman differently, just as the title depicts. While the American rapper and record producer, BEAM, shudder an effort next door to Justin Bieber’s essence as he claims his woman’s love put him on the soft spot with goosebumps alongside which the love renders him. TOP PICKS FOR YOU: Although his lyrics were cut from rap flavors with carefully weaved outflows that scaled through in making the record an outstanding stint with Justin Bieber. With the announcement on Saturday (Jan. 8) of the death of Oscar- and Grammy-winning lyricist Marilyn Bergman at age 93, it’s a good time to look back on one of the most impressive feats in Oscar history. A new Sydney concert attraction sends listeners adrift to the sounds of electronic music. In this case, we mean “adrift” quite literally. The only place the music in “Floors Of Heaven: Submersive Study” can be heard is underwater. Electronic music artist Leon Vynehall soundtracks the event, held at Woolloomooloo Bay’s Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool, to the relaxing sounds of ambient music. Attendees float on the water’s surface with ears submerged; their only means of exposure to the sounds of Vynehall, whose ambient serenade broadcasts via a special underwater sound system. Attendees placidly drift, propped up by pool noodles for flotation assistance, for 45 minutes while enjoying an ethereal atmospheric view above. The early evening s...
It’s a new year, and the same old story for Denver’s Beta Nightclub. Once again, the beloved venue’s future is left hanging in the balance. Though the club has historically been instrumental in fostering Denver’s electronic music community, the downtown establishment has sustained a long series of closures, reopenings, and even a rebrand as Beta 2.0 in late 2019. Despite its various woes, the club persisted, though a new directive from the City of Denver has once again forced operations to grind to a halt—perhaps permanently. According to reporting by the Denver Post, Beta Nightclub began to fall under scrutiny upon law enforcement’s investigation of increasingly prevalent reports of violence happening in the area. Police testimony from DPD Officer...
