Just a day after Tessa Thompson’s selfie in full Valkyrie armor leaked online, alleged official artwork from Thor: Love and Thunder have now surfaced as well, giving fans a closer and more detailed look at both Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman‘s Thors. Pictured below, the two illustrations clearly showcase the new armor suits the two characters will be donning in the upcoming fourth installment of the God of Thunder’s own franchise. On the original Thor’s side, he can be seen wearing the same flowing red cape but his suit takes a big departure from his previous appearances throughout the MCU, this time taking on a royal blue and gold color scheme. As expected, he’s now wielding the new Stormbreaker axe. Naturally, Jane Foster will be fighting with Mjolnir instead, as she gears up w...

New York indie rockers Widowspeak have announced their sixth studio album, The Jacket. The record is out March 11th via Captured Tracks, but first single “Everything Is Simple” is available to stream now, along with a music video directed by OTIUM. Check it out below. Widowspeak recorded The Jacket with producer Homer Steinweiss. The record, initially a concept album centered around the formation and disintegration of a fictional band, is rife with self-referential, full-circle moments. Now a duo, band members Molly Hamilton and Robert Earl Thomas reunited with founding drummer Michael Stasiak for the recording, which also features J.D. Sumner on bass, and piano and keyboard contributions from Michael Hess. “Everything Is Simple” previews The Jacket with a minimalist, country groove. ...
It’s starting to feel like this vampire will never see the light of day. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Jared Leto’s Spider-Man spinoff Morbius has been delayed yet again, with the January 28th release date pushed back to April 1st. Morbius was originally slated for July 31st, 2020, although the COVID-19 pandemic scuttled those plans. The eternal optimists at Sony had initially rescheduled the movie for March 19th, 2021, before giving up on last year and sinking their teeth into January 2022. Now, with the Omicron variant leading to record case counts, they’re going to try again on April Fool’s Day, which is probably a coincidence, right? It’s not a years-long practical joke because this movie exists, right? They released a trailer and then a second trailer, so i...
The Weeknd has unveiled the cover art for his upcoming album, Dawn FM, which is slated for release on Friday, January 7. The artwork, which The Weeknd shared to Instagram, sees the Toronto-based artist as an older version of himself, complete with wrinkles, grey hair and a solemn expression on his face. The Weeknd’s aged-up persona, which previously appeared in the minute-long trailer for the forthcoming project, appears to be the artist’s key identity on the album. The trailer for the After Hours follow-up introduces “a new sonic universe from the mind of The Weeknd” and reveals a list of features from the likes of Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne, Quincy Jones, Oneohtrix Point Never, and, interestingly, actor Jim Carrey. Following the album’s announcement, Carrey tweeted...
Last October, David Lee Roth announced “I am throwing in the shoes. I’m retiring.” The Van Halen frontman had scheduled his final five live shows at House of Blues in Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay that would have taken place early this year. The frontman had previously canceled his New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day shows, and announced on December 30 that the shows would be rescheduled for Feb 11-12. They attributed it to the “unforeseen circumstances related to COVID and out of an abundance of caution for those working and attending the shows.” Now, Roth has canceled the entire residency due to the rapid spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant. Thus (at least as of now) ending his 50-year performing career earlier than expected. Roth initially revealed the news of his retirement in an interview ...
Darryl “DMC” McDaniels is 57, but he still speaks with the boundless energy and commanding voice that he changed the music world with as a teenager. Whether he’s talking about the MCs that made him want to rap in the early ‘80s, his youth outreach work, or his upcoming single with Sebastian Bach, Travis Barker, Duff McKagan, and Mick Mars, DMC’s enthusiasm is infectious. McDaniels founded Run-DMC in 1983 with his friends Joseph “Run” Simmons and Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell. Over the next few years, the trio became hip hop trailblazers, the first rap group with a gold album, then the first with a platinum album, and then a multi-platinum album. Run-DMC, who we named the 7th most influential artist of the last 35 years, has been largely inactive since Mizell’s tragic 2002 death, but DMC ha...
December 18 has officially been named Jack Harlow Day in Louisville, Kentucky. The “WHATS POPPIN” vocalist shared the news to Instagram, with an image of a framed letter from Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer honoring the rapper’s career achievements and officially recognizing Jack Harlow Day. “The City of Louisville honors Jack Harlow for answering, once and for all, that what’s poppin’ is Louisville when it comes to talent that makes it bigger than big, but doesn’t forget the ‘home’ in hometown or homegrown,” the letter reads. “The rapper’s way with words and beats has earned him untold fans, chart-topping releases and an ability to give back in meaningful ways, and he does.” “Our city is excited and proud to observe December 18, 2021, as Jack Harlow Day in Louisville,” it concludes. The ann...
Nearly 40 years ago (February 16, 1985, to be exact), the release of the first installment of The Karate Kid films brought combat sports to arguably its widest audience. Thanks to streaming services, the legend continues today with Cobra Kai. The sibling franchises have spawned millions of attempted martial artists worldwide hoping to master Mr. Miyagi’s “wax on, wax off” technique and the infamous “crane kick” that Daniel LaRusso inflicts upon his rival Johnny Lawrence in the championship climax. In fact, Ralph Macchio (LaRusso) and William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence), then a pair of Hollywood babyfaces, were trying karate for the first time themselves during filming. And, thanks to a ton of movie magic – and perhaps more embellishment – they pulled off looking like pros marvelously. Run down...
