With a new album on the horizon, Alison Wonderland is primed for a monster year. And she’s wasted no time in 2022, unveiling a brand new single called “Fear of Dying” alongside an intimate music video. “Fear of Dying” taps into her trap music roots, using brass stabs and frenetic arpeggios in its sublime drops. Directed by Brandon Dermer, who has worked with Dillon Francis and Panic! at the Disco, among others, the woozy video follows a whirling Wonderland as she wanders through a city in a catatonic state. The music video, one of the most gripping of her career, takes a dark turn at its coda, when she is kidnapped—by herself. Here Wonderland is as captivating as she is haunting, twisting the knife into her dualities. Check out the “Fear o...

This deal includes all the beloved classics from Bowie’s peerlessly cool lifetime, like “Heroes,” “Space Oddity,” and “Life on Mars?,” as well as Toy, his elusive 2001 LP that posthumously received its first commercial release in November of last year. As Variety points out, this deal also means that virtually all of Bowie’s music is now part of the Warner system. Last September, Warner acquired the rights to the musician’s recordings from 1968 through 2016 — even including his last few albums that were originally release...

Investors, major music companies and private equity firms have poured billions of dollars into buying song catalogs, believing that the rise of streaming and growing music revenues will make song rights acquisitions highly lucrative in the long term as they can be exploited for up to 70 years after a musician’s death. Asked in a new interview with A Jour...
