Jamie Spears, who unsuccessfully fought to keep Britney Spears separated from her own money under his conservatorship, is now asking his daughter to pay his legal fees. The 27-page petition obtained by Variety reads like a blackmail note. “Prompt payment on account of Jamie’s attorneys’ fees is necessary to ensure the Conservatorship can be wound up quickly and efficiently to allow Britney to take control of her life as she and Jamie desire,” it says with the air of someone twirling a mustache. You know that nice freedom you’re looking forward to? Sure would be a shame if someone slowed it down. Spears’ attorney Matthew Rosengart called the request an “abomination.” “Mr. Spears reaped many millions of dollars from Britney as a conservator, while paying his lawyers millions m...
Jagged Little Pill, the musical based on Alanis Morissette’s transcendent album of the same name, has closed on Broadway. The surprise visual, which arrived with little to no fanfare ahead of its unveiling, follows videos for s...
LONDON – When Will Hutton was appointed Beggars Group’s inaugural head of sustainability in September of last year, his first task was tackling “low hanging fruit” at the indie powerhouse, which includes labels 4AD, Matador, Rough Trade, XL Recordings and Young labels. That included calculating the businesses’ carbon footprint and identifying areas where action could be taken quickly, such as reducing business travel, installing solar panels at Beggars Group’s London offices and improving the sustainability of products. “Now the conversation moves onto what we need to do as an industry,” says Hutton. This month, the global music business took a significant step towards a greener, more sustainable future when all three major record companies — Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment...
