Ted Nugent says that Alec Baldwin should spend the rest of his life in prison for shooting and killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film “Rust”. Earlier in the month, Baldwin made a surprising claim during his first major interview since the fatal shooting, saying that “the trigger wasn’t pulled” when a “live round” was discharged and ended up mortally wounding Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza in the October 21 tragedy. This time last year, William Patrick Corgan said that he’d been working on a Christmas album for a few years that got “junked.” Now, it appears the Smashing Pumpkins singer/guitarist has taken some of those songs out of the proverbial trash. As part of Metallica’s “San Francisco Takeover” to mark their 40th anniversary, a handful of club gigs were announced to surround the metal titans’ massive shows at the Chase Center. One of those shows included three bands — OTTTO, Taipei Houston, and Bastardane — with each featuring at least one son of a Metallica member. The gig took place Saturday night (December 18th) at The Chapel, with Bastardane taking the stage first. Based out of Savannah, Georgia, the group features drummer Castor Hetfield, son of Metallica frontman James Hetfield. Carlos Marín, one-quarter of the multi-national vocal group Il Divo, has died at the age of 53. The surviving members of the quartet announced the news on Twitter. “It is with heavy hearts that we are letting you know that our friend and partner, Carlos Marin, has passed away,” the group wrote. “He will be missed by his friends, family and fans. There wiIl never be another voice or spirit like Carlos.” The statement continued: “For 17 years the four of us have been on this incredible journey of Il Divo together, and we will miss our dear friend. Hipgnosis Songs Funds improved its gross revenue for the six months ended Sept. 30 by 35% year-on-year to $85.3 million, primarily due to the revenue from eight catalogs with 1,315 songs acquired in the previous six months, the company announced Thursday (Dec. 16) in its bi-annual report to investors. Net revenue—gross revenue minus royalties paid to songwriters under contract and administered catalogs—grew 31% $74.1 million during the same period. Since its launch in 2017, Hipgnosis has built a catalog of over 65,000 songs with a net asset value of $1.63 billion as of Sept. 30, up from $1.46 billion on March 31.
