Earlier this year, Alabama Shakes drummer Steve Johnson was arrested on child abuse charges. All that was known at the time was that the charges were “willful torture, willful abuse, and cruelly beating or otherwise willfully maltreating a child under the age of 18.” Last week, on December 16, AP reported that the charges were dismissed by a judge in Limestone County, Alabama. “Steve Johnson maintained his innocence the entire time. He had to wait for his day in court like so many people do. Thankfully, these charges have been dismissed,” Johnson’s attorney, Nick Lough, told the AP. Mac DeMarco has covered the holiday staple “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” the latest instalment in his annual Christmas song series. Check out the video, which stars an inflatable tree looking for a place to call home, below. “I Hope your holiday season is full of love and tree,” DeMarco captioned the video. “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” was written by Kim Gannon and composer Walter Kent and first released by Bing Crosby in 1943. The first official trailer for The Northman is here. Robert Eggers’ viking revenge film, which stars Björk, Nicole Kidman, Alexander Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe, and Ethan Hawke, is in theaters April 22, 2022. The film, set in 10th century Iceland, follows a Viking prince avenging his murdered father. Production resumed in August last year after a long pandemic-related delay. Eggers co-wrote the screenplay with the Icelandic poet and longtime Björk collaborator Sjón. Focus Features will release the film in the United States; Universal has the international rights. Aside from a first trailer that debuted just last week, not much has been revealed about the upcoming Halo live-action adaptation series, but executive producer and 343 Industries staff Kiki Wolfkill has now confirmed that it won’t be following conventional canon from the games and the books. Chinese tech and gaming giant Tencent has now acquired Left 4 Dead and Back 4 Blood developer Turtle Rock Studios. According to a press release announcing the new acquisition, Tencent will now own both Turtle Rock Studios and its parent company Slamfire Inc., although no purchase price was revealed for the transaction.
