Juice WRLD’s ‘Fighting Demons’ Debuts at No. 2 on Billboard 200
The late Juice WRLD is opening this week’s Billboard 200 at No. 2 with Fighting Demons. The artist’s second posthumous album is debuting with 119,000 equivalent album units including 110,000 in streaming equivalent album units (155.49 million on-demand streams of the songs), 5,000 in track equivalent album units and 4,000 in album sales. Fighting Demons marks Juice WRLD’s fifth Billboard 200 entry, and follows previous No. 1s like Legends Never Die in 2020 and Death Race for Love in 2019. Music fans voted in a poll that was published Friday (Dec. 17) on Billboard, choosing “Tears in the Club” as their favorite new music release of the past week. “Tears in the Club,” the first team-up between the two artists, brought in just over half of the vote at 52.43%. Carlos Marin, Singer in Classic Crossover Act Il Divo, Dies at 53
Carlos Marín, who was part of the British singing group Il Divo, died Sunday at age 53. The cause of death was not revealed; however, he had been hospitalized recently. The group announced his death via its Instagram account. “It is with heavy hearts that we are letting you know that our friend and partner, Carlos Marin, has passed away,” the post reads. “He will be missed by his friends, family and fans. There will never be another voice or spirit like Carlos. For 17 years the four of us have been on this incredible journey of Il Divo together, and we will miss our dear friend. Mobb Deep‘s Prodigy will supposedly have a street named after him in Queensbridge, New York in 2022. According to reports, the corner of 12th Street and 41st Road will be co-named “Prodigy Way” and has just received final approval from the City Council. Prodigy’s family, fellow Mobb Deep member Havoc, Big Twins and Kenny Carter’s Fathers Alive in the Hood organization greatly helped in the co-naming of the block, with its proposal “graciously approved.” Prodigy died in June 2017 while hospitalized for complications in relation to his sickle-cell anemia.
