Astroworld Festival Victims Died of Compression Asphyxia, Medical Examiner Rules

Weeks after 10 people died at Travis Scott’s 2021 Astroworld Festival in Houston on November 5, the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office has ruled that the victims died from compression asphyxia, according to The Associated Press. The deaths were also ruled accidental, as Rolling Stone notes. The ages of the victims ranges from 9 to 27. Representatives for Travis Scott offered no comment when reached by Pitchfork. Roughly 300 people were injured at the festival, while 25 were taken to hospitals after a crowd surged toward the front of the stage at NRG Park. The tragedy was labeled a “mass casualty incident,” with an initial death toll of eight. Giorgio Moroder Auctioning 1980s Italian Sports Car Prototype

Giorgio Moroder is auctioning off the prototype of a sports car he developed in the 1980s with Italian mechanic and Lamborghini specialist Claudio Zampolli. The 1988 Cizeta-Moroder V16T is the concept build of a vehicle in which Moroder had heavily invested, but which never entered production. The auction happens on January 27 in Phoenix, Arizona. Leonard “Hub” Hubbard, longtime member of the trailblazing Philadelphia hip-hop crew the Roots, has died, The Philadelphia Inquirer and ABC 6 report. Hubbard’s wife Stephanie confirmed the news to the Inquirer; the cause of death was multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer that Hubbard was diagnosed with in 2007. The Roots posted about Hubbard’s death on their official social media accounts earlier this evening (December 16). “It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we say goodbye to our brother Leonard Nelson Hubbard,” the Roots wrote. “May your transition bring peace to your family to your friends to your fans and all of those who loved you. Following word of 300 Entertainment looking to sell last month, reports are now noting that Warner Music Group has now purchased the independent music enterprise.
