In a recent interview with Knotfest‘s Ryan J. Downey, Griffin Taylor, the 19-year-old son of SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR singer Corey Taylor, was asked if he pays attention to the feedback his Iowa-based metal band VENDED has received in the weeks since it released its debut single. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET)”: “For me, I do see people’s responses to it, and I get a lot of great responses, because I love the crowd — I love the fans because they’ve been there for my dad and they will be there for me and I will not force them to be. But we do get backlash because of the comparison and the similarities [to SLIPKNOT]. But we are different. And there have been times where I’ve read some hate comments on YouTube and I literally went into the bath...

St. Vincent is back with a fresh take on “Pay Your Way in Pain.” Today, Annie Clark has shared a remix of the Daddy’s Home single, created by UK post-punk band IDLES. St. Vincent released Daddy’s Home, her sixth album, in May, and shared “Pay Your Way in Pain” as its first single. With glitchy synths and the artist’s typical slinky rhythm, the song introduced the record’s retro aesthetic with a certain charismatic darkness. In a statement for the remix, IDLES guitarist Mark Bowen said this juxtaposition is what he latched onto. “What I really enjoy about the Daddy’s Home album is using this camp energy in a really violent way,” he said. “This embracing of the nostalgic even the kitsch but using it to make progressive futuristic music. It reminded me a lot of the energy of early house ...
Fans hoping to catch the very cool hardcore bill at the Middle East club Tuesday night (December 7th) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, were instead treated to a surprise shower. A concertgoer apparently front-flipped off the stage and ruptured a sprinkler pipe on the ceiling, flooding the venue before headliners Show Me the Body even had the chance to play. As New England Sounds reports, the incident happened as Richmond, Virginia’s Candy were performing in the club’s downstairs room. Footage shows water gushing from the pipe, as the band continues to play. At first, it didn’t seem to faze the crowd, as a number of moshers can be seen reveling in the pouring water. Eventually, the fire department was called as it became clear that the venue was flooding. According to a Reddit thread about the ...

We tried out this whole ‘music’ thing for a couple of millennia, and while it had a good run, it’s now clear that humans just can’t be trusted with melody and rhythm. As first and final proof, look no further than the new ViroMusic project, which used computers to transform the genetic sequence of the COVID-19 virus into songs — and then turned those songs into NFTs. Because if there was one thing this human-killing virus needed, it was a way to kill the environment, too. ViroMusic used a process called DNA Sonification. A software program hunted through COVID-19’s genetic code, looking for stretches of the RNA that could be translated to music. Afterwards, an algorithm converted that RNA into musical notes. But the results didn’t sound exactly like songs, and so ViroMusic brought in ringe...
