Girlpool return today with a dreamy new single called “Faultline.” The Los Angeles indie duo’s latest arrives with a music video directed by the band alongside Julian Klincewicz. “The Faultline represents everything you do as a means of escape that pushes you further into the very thing you’re escaping,” Girlpool’s Harmony Tividad explains in a statement. The track seems directed at a neglectful partner, as Tividad’s poetic lyrics conjure some poignant imagery: “Every week keeps slipping by/ In this imitation paradise/ The angels make me sorry when I err/ From the way they want me everywhere,” she sings. “Will I die at this faultline?” The music video for “Faultline” is similarly idyllic, casting Tividad as the star in what could be her own coming-of-age drama. She rides a bike through sub...
We’re taking a break from our 2021 Annual Report to recognize our last Artist of the Month of the year! AOTM is an accolade given to an up-and-coming artist or group who is poised for the big time. In December 2021, we recognize K-pop act TOMORROW X TOGETHER, who continue to solidify themselves as 4th-generation leaders in the genre. Throughout 2021, TOMORROW X TOGETHER was frozen in time. The K-pop group (whose name is often shortened to TXT) burst onto the international scene with a remarkable debut in 2019 and quickly amassed a no-skips reputation. The still very young group was poised to explode in 2020 — when the world, of course, came to a screeching halt. It must have been somewhat frustrating for the five members — Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Hueningkai — but if that’s th...
Halo is back. For fans of Xbox’s signature series, it’s been nearly a half-decade since the release of underwhelming spinoff, Halo Wars 2, and over 6 years since the last title in the main series (the divisive Halo 5). But with Halo Infinite, Master Chief is finally back to blast and smash his way back into everyone’s consoles, PCs and hearts. While the monetization system for the multiplayer has been predictably criticized, Halo Infinite is generally a return to form for the series, with the gameplay, narrative, and environment that fans have come to expect from one of the most recognizable video game franchises in history. Halo Infinite also marks a pair of significant anniversaries for the franchise, with the original launch of the first game coming 20 years ago last month and the remas...

Nils Lofgren was a fresh-faced 18-year-old kid the first time he met Neil Young around 1970. The guitarist was in Los Angeles trying to get his band Grin off the ground when he entered the wily Canadian’s orbit. Before long, he was adding piano licks and whipping out frenzied, electric riffs on Young’s folk-rock masterpiece After The Goldrush. The whole endeavor was almost too surreal for the young D.C. native to even wrap his mind around. Not long after releasing After The Gold Rush, Young experienced one of the great losses of his life when his friend and collaborator Danny Whitten died of a drug overdose in Los Angeles. Whitten was the guitarist in Crazy Horse, a group Young utilized as his raucous backing outfit throughout the early ‘70s. The band also consisted of Billy Talbot on bass...
