Adele Shares Tearful On-Stage Reunion with Beloved Teacher: Watch

Adele celebrated the release of her new album, 30, with the ITV special An Audience with Adele on Sunday night. Filmed November 6th at the London Palladium, the event found the singer performing a number of tracks off her new album while also fielding questions from celebrity audience members like Emma Watson, David Tennant, Mel B, Dua Lipa, and more. One thing Adele wasn’t expecting, however, was for a reunion with her old English teacher to be part of the evening. Emma Thompson served as the plant, asking Adele if she had someone in her youth who “supported you and inspired you, or sort of protected you from all the trials and tribulations of life and inspired you to go on?” This led the pop star to discuss Miss McDonald, “a teacher at Chestnut Grove who taught me English.” Apparent...

R.I.P. Peter Aykroyd, SNL Cast Member and Dan Aykroyd’s Brother Dead at 66

Peter Aykroyd, an Emmy-nominated writer and actor who worked on Saturday Night Live in its fifth season, has died at the age of 66. SNL confirmed the news with a tribute during the November 20th show hosted by Simu Liu. Along with the rest of the writer’s room, he shared an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing in a Variety or Music Program. Peter Aykroyd collaborated with Dan several times throughout his career. Peter is credited with the story for Dan’s screenplay for the 1991 movie Nothing But Trouble, which s...

The Timeless Power of Bush (or Bushx, Depending on How Canadian You Are)

The things we treasure when we’re young are often the most formative. For me, it was a black Sanyo cassette/radio combination with one speaker and an appetite for D batteries. This little radio provided access to the world that would smother my overactive and chaotic mind: all request radio, an hour block of programming on one of the few FM stations it could pick up. You had to know the phone number by heart to get in on time, as people would rush to call in and request the banal songs they would hear on an endless loop the rest of the day anyway. Not me though, I was focused on a singular task: making mixtapes from songs I was able to record off the radio. There was a song I was chasing that I had heard in passing on numerous occasions, but hadn’t managed to time the pause/record button j...

‘Star Citizen’ Has Officially Surpassed $400 Million USD in Funding

Two years ago, Chris Roberts’ spiritual successor — Star Citizen — for the groundbreaking game Freelancer was valued at close to $500 million USD. Fans were excited to hear movement in the project after a $46 million USD investment from billionaire record producer Clive Calder — leading to the proposed 2020 summer release for the single-player Squadron 42 campaign. The game has now hit new heights, and not in a good way. With Squadron 42 already missing its 2020 summer release date with “ways to go” before even reaching beta, a recent tally of all the funds raised for the full Star Citizen game has officially surpassed $400 million USD. This is quite a staggering number when you consider that it was announced close to ten years ago on Kickstarter with a three-year completion timeline and t...

Less than a month after concluding its 2021 Worlds event in Iceland where EDG took home the victory, Riot Games is now looking forward to the League of Legends 2022 World Championship, announcing that it’ll be the first-ever multi-city tournament. Spreading across four parts of North America, next year’s championship will take place in Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, New York’s Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, San Francisco’s Chase Center, and Mexico City’s Liga Latinoamerica arena. Aside from being the first of its kind to run concurrently at numerous cities, the 2022 occasion will also mark the first return to the North American region for the first time since 2016. “The momentum behind League of Legends Esports has only continued to grow since the last time we hosted Worlds in the U.S...

‘Dragon Ball’ Is Getting Its Own Asymmetrical Survival Game

Fans of the Dragon Ball universe are finally getting their very own asymmetrical survival game. Dubbed Dragon Ball: The Breakers, the new Bandai Namco title brings together a group of seven players who’ll be transported into a mysterious land called the Temporal Seam. As Survivors, their goal is to survive the terrors of the eighth player, who’ll take on the role as Raider through one of the many notorious villains in Dragon Ball, including Cell, Buu and Frieza. The Raider will have to take out all seven Survivors before they’re able to find the Super Time Machine to escape the Temporal Seam. As the game goes on, the villain will become more and more powerful, and those trying to run away will have to scavenge weapons, vehicles, and power-ups to slow him down. For those...

‘Battlefield 2042’ Amasses Almost 30,000 Negative Reviews on Steam

The general release for Battlefield 2042 was only two days ago, but the new EA title has already become one of the worst-reviewed games on Steam. Amassing more than 35,000 reviews over the 48 hours, more than 29,000 of those are negative, making the latest Battlefield installment the eighth-lowest rated game in the entire Steam library. While the game built incredible anticipation during its development period and arguably even through its open beta testing, the ultimate release was met with widespread criticism. Sparse maps with little to no cover, imbalanced and overpowered vehicles, buggy performance, bullet accuracy issues, a high time-to-kill and problematic hitboxes are among some of the biggest flaws of the game. “When [Battlefield 3] came out, I thought to myself, imagine...

Adele Gobsmacked, Teary During Onstage Reunion With Childhood English Teacher: ‘It Was Just Heaven’

Take it easy on Adele, she’s having a moment. ‘Peaky Blinders’ Director Teases Upcoming Final Season Might Be Coming Sooner Than Expected

Peaky Blinders director Anthony Byrne has taken to Instagram to tease fans that the sixth and final season will be arriving “sooner than you think.” In the Instagram post, Byrne has appeared to showcase a short teaser of the main protagonist, played by Cillian Murphy, walking through the ominous, empty streets with a large bag in hand. As he looks off-camera, the clip cuts off to show the series’ title and the text, “Early 2022.” Accompanying the clip is the caption, “We’re coming for you sooner than you think. By order of…,” further evoking one of the show’s signature phrases. The forthcoming sixth season of the series will include a follow-up feature-length film, set to wrap up the storyline.
