Travis Scott, Drake, Live Nation and More Face $2 Billion USD Lawsuit Following Astroworld Tragedy

Texas lawyer Thomas J. Henry on Thursday filed a $2 billion USD lawsuit against Travis Scott, Drake, Live Nation, Apple and others on behalf of 282 plaintiffs linked to the deadly Astroworld tragedy in Houston. Following the fatal crowd crush, it was estimated that more than 300 people were treated for injuries and 25 people were hospitalized. Another 120 victims have contacted Henry’s firm for representation for their injuries and damages. “The defendants stood to make an exorbitant amount of money off of this event, and they still chose to cut corners, cut costs, and put attendees at risk,” said Thomas J. Henry. “My clients want to ensure the defendants are held responsible for their actions, and they want to send the message to all performers, event organizers, and promoters that what h...

New Doc Reveals Les Moonves Demanded Janet Jackson Apologize to Him in Person After the 2004 Super Bowl

For 70 minutes, the new New York Times Presents documentary Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson digs deep into one of the 21st century’s most controversial moments: the 9/16th of a second reveal of Janet Jackson’s nipple during the 2004 Super Bowl. One big detail delivered by the doc’s new reporting on the incident and its aftermath may explain in part the major discrepancy between how Jackson and Justin Timberlake were treated at the time: Les Moonves’ ego. That year, both the Super Bowl and the 46th annual Grammy Awards aired on CBS, and in the week between the two events, Jackson issued multiple apologies for the Super Bowl show. But Moonves, as the chairman and CEO of CBS at the time, wasn’t satisfied and initially banned both Jackson and Timberlake from attending the Gramm...

Eric Clapton Talks Anti-Vax Nonsense with Anti-Vaxxer Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

Former rock icon and current loony Eric Clapton doubled down on his COVID-19 trutherism in a conversation with noted anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., on the latter’s podcast, The Defender. As Clapton explained, holding anti-science beliefs has taken a toll on his mental health. “I thought I was going crazy,” he said, though he rationalized it with an acronym he found on the internet. “I think everybody I know has got, what do they call it? CAS [Covid Anxiety Syndrome], everybody I know is unsettled about it,” Clapton said. He added, “The lifesaving part of it was I’d found a group of people who were inviting me to talk about it because I couldn’t talk about it anywhere.” In fact, Clapton feels more committed to this cause than ever before. “It’s funny, because t...

Trailer for Jennifer Lopez’s Marry Me Is So Bad It Ruins Marriage for the Rest of Us: Watch

The holidays are a time for overeating, reconnecting with loved ones, and watching so-bad-they’re-good movies about rich people marrying poor people. But the charm of this genre is that the flicks are campy and cheaply made. Throw in a big budget and serious attitude and you get Marry Me, the new film starring Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson, which looks awful enough to make even Lifetime lifers cringe. J. Lo leads the way as Kat Valdez, a pop star set to marry her longtime boyfriend on stage, only to realize moments before that he’s cheating. On an impulse, she picks single dad Charlie Gilbert (Wilson) out of the crowd and marries him instead. In the three-minute trailer, we see the supposedly level-headed dad Gilbert make so many baffling decisions it’s a miracle nobody has called DC...

FKA twigs Teams with Central Cee for “Measure of a Man”: Stream

FKA twigs‘ next record is apparently done, but fans will have to wait a bit longer before hearing the true follow-up to 2019’s MAGDALENE. Instead, the British singer-songwriter has released the song “Measure of a Man,” a collaboration with the British rapper Central Cee that features on the soundtrack to the upcoming film The King’s Man.  Rife with piano ballads and Biblical theatrics, MAGADLENE saw twigs bare her soul. “Measure of a Man,” meanwhile, is equally cinematic, but in the traditional movie soundtrack sense of the word. With creeping bass and twigs’ sultry voice mixed high, the track offers an ominous bravado that fits The King’s Man’s spy premise well. “Nobody feels the pain behind the love you show,” the R&B singer croons. “Nobody feels the burden that you be...

With the synthesizer, which is creat...

Underoath’s Aaron Gillespie Unmasks His Struggle with Mental Health

Anyone who has struggled with mental health issues can point to a moment when someone told them that what they’re feeling isn’t real. Aaron Gillespie—drummer and vocalist for the Grammy-nominated metal band Underoath, as well as the touring drummer for Paramore and founder of the band The Almost— recalls a time when the people around him said that his generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) could be addressed with something as simple as forgetting about the affliction. “My whole life the coping I received from anyone was, ‘If you feel it, ignore it because it isn’t real it’s in you mind,’” he says the latest installment of Sound Mind Unmasked, a video series featuring artists sharing their mental health journey and opening up about the toll touring and recording can take. Unmasked is focu...

How One of Live Nation’s Core Business Strategies Backfired at Astroworld

Travis Scott encourages his concert audiences to “rage,” so his Astroworld festival, which this year drew 50,000 fans on Nov. 5 to NRG Park in Houston, needs to be organized in a way that keeps attendees safe. But ScoreMore Shows, which produces and promotes the event, set it up in a way that several concert business sources say may have inadvertently contributed to the crowd surge that resulted in 10 deaths and hundreds of injuries, and that parent company Live Nation rarely exercises the kind of oversight over events organized by its subsidiaries that might have flagged these problems before it was too late. Explore See latest videos, charts and news The hands-off approach is by design. Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino runs the company with a decentralized management strategy that encourag...
