Dave Chappelle hasn’t been cancelled, and there’s lots of evidence that for the rich and famous, cancel culture doesn’t exist. But the comedian does continue to receive pushback for the bigoted comments he made in his recent Netflix special, The Closer. As the IndyStar reports, he was uninvited from a fundraiser being held by his old high school, though Chapelle responded by saying, “They’re canceling stuff I didn’t even want to do.” Chappelle joked about the fundraiser Friday night in Indianapolis after a screening of his new documentary Untitled. He made several references to being ‘cancelled,’ using the high school fundraiser as an example and complaining that he “can’t even raise money for children.” Claiming moral superiority, Chappelle told the crow...
“To be loved and love at the highest count, means to lose all the things I can’t live without.” When Adele croons that line on the devastating piano ballad “To Be Loved,” one gets the impression that it is not only emblematic of her latest album, but also the journey of the past six years of her life. On the surface, 30, out Friday (November 19th), could be perceived as a divorce album, but it’s more than that: It’s about depression, new love, rebirth, choosing the harder road even if it means self-preservation. Here, the singer digs deeper than she ever has before. Though Adele has always mastered the art of remaining notoriously private, despite being one of the biggest pop stars in the world, 30 unveils the extreme change she’s experienced over the years. Come on, Marvel and Sony: We know there’s going to be more than one Spider-Man in the next movie, so why the play it so close to the web? Whatever game the studios are playing, the new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer has arrived, and while neither Tobey Maguire nor Andrew Garfield appear, a ton of multiversal madness does. As revealed in the previous No Way Home preview, Alfred Molina and Willem Dafoe are back as Doctor Octopus 2004’s Spider-Man 2 and Green Goblin from 2001’s Spider-Man, respectively. We’ve also had hints that Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman (Spider-Man 3), Jamie Foxx’s Electro (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), and Rhys Ifans’ Lizard (The Amazing Spider-Man) would all be bursting through the cross-dimensional rift created by Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), an...
To (likely) conclude one of the stranger stories of the year, Brass Against singer Sophie Urista has apologized for peeing on a fan. The incident took place at the Welcome to Rockville festival. Though it’s not as famous as another alleged pee tape, the incident lit the internet on fire. “Hey everyone. I want to speak to my performance at Rockville metal festival in Daytona,” the Brass Against singer said in a tweet. “Hey everyone. I want to speak to my performance at Rockville metal festival in Daytona. I have always pushed the limits in music and on stage. That night, I pushed the limits too far. I love my family, the band, and the fans more than anything and I know that some were hurt or offended by what I did. I apologize to them and want them to know that I didn’t mean to hurt them. “...
