House music virtuoso Chris Lake has unveiled “A Drug From God,” a hotly anticipated collaboration with Grimes. “A Drug From God” is hedonistic in nature, blending Lake’s signature down-and-dirty basslines with the sumptuous art pop sound of Grimes. Thanks to her madcap refrain, the song is subversive enough to infuriate EDM’s narrow-minded detractors and anthemic enough to become a festival favorite. In other words, “A Drug From God” is an instant classic for fans of dance music. Out today via a joint release between Astralwerks and Lake’s Black Book Records, it’s one of the biggest house records of 2021 and a dark horse for the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording. Check out the track below. The massive...
Tying a bow on a monster year, Canadian-English DJ duo VAVO have dropped “Highs & Lows,” a sensational slap house single and their last of 2021. Time-tested in 2021, the track’s formula helps concoct a dance anthem with the potential to dominate radio like its slap house predecessors. We saw it with Imanbek’s breakthrough remix of SAINt JHN’s “Roses” and again with Tiësto’s and Karol G’s “Don’t Be Shy“—and this time around, VAVO are poised to make their mark. “Highs & Lows” takes a page out of Joel Corry and MNEK’s playbook, using earworm-like adlibs akin to the ones heard in their global smash “Head & Heart.” It was a shrewd move, offering a catchy melody in the song’s i...
Superman and The Witcher actor Henry Cavill has now expressed interest in both playing Captain Britain for Marvel and becoming the next James Bond after Daniel Craig‘s departure following No Time to Die. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in a new interview, the pop culture lover was asked who he’d want to play if he was given a role within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “I’m never going to say a Marvel character that is already being played by someone else because everyone’s doing such an amazing job,” Cavill explained. “However, I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America. There’s something fun about that, and I d...
Amid slowing growth for its Disney+ streaming platform, media giant Disney has failed to meet expectations for Q4 of 2021. According to the company, revenue came in at $18.53 billion USD over the past quarter, falling just shy of the $15.78 billion USD expectation. Earnings per share dropped 20 cents year on year to 37 cents per share, as opposed to the predicted 49 cents per share. Most importantly, Disney+ subscriptions only reached 118.1 million, coming 1.5 million short of the 119.6 expected. Disney attributes much of this quarter’s struggles to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused many productions across the globe to shutter, delaying the company’s release schedule and slowing the flow of new content on Disney+. “Although film and television production generally resumed beg...
Disney+ has finally announced a release window for the premiere of Ms. Marvel. Little is known for now about the upcoming series, but fans can expect some form of origin story for the Pakistani-American shapeshifter Kamala Khan, who’ll be portrayed by Canadian actress Iman Vellani. Following her MCU debut on Disney+, she’ll also make her way onto Captain Marvel’s second film The Marvel, which will feature Khan, Carol Danvers, and Monica Rambeau, who made her own introduction back in WandaVision. “It’s interesting, and something we thought about and worked through a lot, which was how do we get each of these really big, exciting heroes space in a two-hour film,” The Marvels director Nia DaCosta previously said. “Captain Marvel has a history from the first film, Kamala will have he...

RATING: 8/10 As every student of hard rock and heavy metal knows, few things are more inherently exhilarating than the sound of vintage DEEP PURPLE or URIAH HEEP at full pelt. Massive riffs, mutli-octave vocal athletics and, most importantly, the otherworldly rush of an overdriven Hammond organ — this, my friends, is the rock ‘n’ roll motherlode. Listen to “Highway Star” or “Easy Livin'” at full whack (again, presumably) and you will know the meaning of joy. TIMECHILD are undoubtedly disciples of Jon Lord and Ken Hensley, not to mention Ritchie Blackmore and Mick Box, and their debut album makes no apologies for its proud and purposeful debt to the glory days of both the aforementioned bands. But while there are plenty of bands out there with the intent ...
At every stop on HALESTORM‘s recently launched U.S. tour with EVANESCENCE, HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale has been joining EVANESCENCE on stage to perform a cover version of LINKIN PARK‘s “Heavy”. Lzzy spoke about the decision to cover the track in a new interview with the 105.7 The Point radio station. She said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “[EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee and I] were lobbing a couple of ideas back and forth and then, all of a sudden, we landed on LINKIN PARK. And [we thought], you know what? That would be really cool because inadvertently it would be a tribute to [late LINKIN PARK singer] Chester [Bennington], but also, everything that this song has been about, we’ve all been through that — everybody. And so it’s almost this like...
Silk Sonic, the power duo comprised of Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars, have finally dropped off their highly-anticipated debut album An Evening With Silk Sonic. Clocking in at just over half an hour, the nine-track record is hosted by Parliament Funkadelic member Bootsy Collins and features only one guest appearance from Thundercat on “After Last Night.” Heavily inspired by soul and funk music from the 1970s, .Paak and Mars mainly explore the themes of relationships and women with catchy tunes and simple yet cheeky lyricism. Earlier this year, the pair spoke to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe and shared that the Silk Sonic project began from a studio session in 2017. “It snowballed. And it was like, well, want to come back tomorrow? And we kept coming up with music. It felt like why you fall in lov...
