Joywave Announce New Album Cleanse, Share “Cyn City 2000”: Stream

Joywave released their last album, Possession, on March 13th, 2020, and you know what happened next. Even with the world on pause, however, the Rochester rock trio were ready to get back to work: Today, they’ve announced that their fourth studio album, Cleanse, will arrive on February 11th, 2022. As a preview, Joywave have shared the single “Cyn City 2000,” and they’ve also announced a North American tour for next year. Clease was written and recorded in frontman Daniel Armbruster’s home studio, which the band aptly nicknamed the “Joycave.” “With our dense touring schedule shelved, I was able to reflect on past travels and appreciate them in a new way,” Armbruster said in a press release. “But reminders of our fragile mortality were everywhere, punctuated by the ongoing pand...

JAY-Z Taps Jadakiss, Conway the Machine, BackRoad Gee for New Single “King Kong Riddim”: Stream

JAY-Z has shared “King Kong Riddim,” a new song from the soundtrack to The Harder They Fall featuring Jadakiss, Conway the Machine, and English drill-grime star Backroad Gee. Backroad Gee provides the framing and the hook, rapping, “Gorilla in the jungle, man, I don’t sing song/ Bang my chest like my name King Kong.” Jadakiss still sounds like he needs a lozenge, and Conway wraps his marble-mouthed flow around, “Them subliminals on Twitter don’t really rattle my cage/ Notice when I mention my release date, had ’em afraid/ Made legends get in they bag when they heard the way I spazz/ Shooters on the road, them n****s half of my age.” As for JAY-Z, his verse hearkens back to the concrete jungles of his youth. He raps, “Jungle, I move a bundle, a hundo at my peak...

Flo Milli Drops New Single “Ice Baby”: Stream

Not that she needs your approval, but Flo Milli continues to make promising arguments that she’s one of the most exciting young names in hip-hop. Today, the Alabama rapper returns with “Ice Baby,” a searing banger that’s sure to make you feel like a million bucks. Along with the track comes a brief accompanying clip called “I Love Flo Milli.” As is the case with most Flo Milli tracks — like her viral TikTok anthem “Beef FloMix” — “Ice Baby” is backed by a rattling bass, courtesy of producers Brad!, brettonthebeat, and Slade. After recently debuting the track in her COLORS Studio performance, her playful flow takes the forefront, and there’s plenty of fun bars to go around, too: “Money my mood, make a million a month/ This easy like Evel Knievel to stunt,” she spits. The video sta...

Netflix Unfurls Trailer for Season 2 of The Witcher: Watch

“Destiny is a beast.” So goes the logline for the Season 2 trailer of The Witcher, which Netflix dropped this afternoon. Stream it below. In the clip, a narrator warns Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia, “Something has changed, Geralt. The world’s acting strange these days. The North and South at war. Monsters roaming when they should be hibernating. Maybe it’s the end of days.” The titular witcher’s response? “I’ve lived through three supposed ‘end of days.’ It’s all horseshit.” As a hard-charging rendition of Kanye West’s massive 2010 hit “Monster” plays over top, the trailer then teases out all the palace intrigue, empire building, and battle preparations that will go down in the fantasy series’ sophomore season — not to mention Cavill taking on assassins, magic, and a particularly gru...

Lucifer IV – LUCIFER

RATING: 8/10 LUCIFER have never been shy about proudly wearing their influences on their sleeves. The European group’s latest record — simply titled “Lucifer IV” — sees vocalist Johanna Sadonis, drummer Nicke Andersson (THE HELLACOPTERS/ex-ENTOMBED), and returning guitarists Martin Nordland and Linus Björklund once again filtering those inspirations in a manner that capably overlays an aura of dark gloom while still managing to replicate the infectious warmth of the past. It is that mixing of atmospheres that keeps the group’s wicked brew from coming off as mere regurgitation. The band’s fourth record does have an extra layer of garage rock grime to its production, but their songwriting prowess combines with Sadonis‘s ever-entrancing croons resulting in ...

Laskiewicz has carved out an impressive career for himself over the l...

SUPERJOINT guitarist Jimmy Bower says that the band is “done” for good. SUPERJOINT‘s latest album, “Caught Up In The Gears Of Application”, came out in November 2016 via singer Philip Anselmo‘s Housecore record label. Since then, Anselmo and bassist Stephen Taylor have focused primarily on Anselmo‘s PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS solo project, which released its second album, “Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue”, in 2019. Asked in a new interview with Pierre Gutiérrez of Rock Talks if there are any updates on SUPERJOINT‘s future activities, Bower said: “SUPERJOINT‘s done, man.” When Gutiérrez pressed Bower about whether he means that the band is done “for good,” Jimmy responded: “Uh huh. ...

Caresha Please: Yung Miami Drops New Track “Rap Freaks” & Twitter Reacts To Megan Thee Stallion Laughing At “Buenos Noches” Line

HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Frazer Harrison / Getty Yung Miami, one half of the City Girls with her partner JT, is stepping out on her own with the new “Rap Freaks” single that dropped on Friday (October 29). While fans are still absorbing the new track and diving in with their comments and reactions, some on Twitter have taken notice of Megan Thee Stallion being particularly tickled by one line in the song. Like other songs before it such as “Just Playing (Dreams)” from The Notorious B.I.G., Yung Miami’s “Rap Freaks” follows the format of her imagining trysts with some of her Hip-Hop peers in very glaring fashion. Here are some of the lyrics from “Rap Freaks” for context: I’m on a runway I don’t see a Tory in my lane, I’m with the savages Drive the boat, sit on Megan face, ri...
