Celebrate 10 Years of Avicii’s “Levels” With New Video From His Final Performance

For dance music fans, about three seconds is all it takes to recognize the classic intro of Avicii‘s “Levels.”  The late dance music legend’s estate is now celebrating the 10-year anniversary of his breakthrough 2011 single by releasing a special live recording of “Levels” from Ushuaïa Ibiza. Avicii’s August 28th, 2016 performance there turned out to be his final concert, as he retired from touring that year and tragically passed away in 2018. This particular clip of “Levels” was originally part of 2017’s Avicii: True Stories documentary but was removed after the film’s theatrical run. A brand new documentary, directed by Henrik Burman, is due in 2023.  Watch the “Levels (Live In Ibiza)” video, whi...

Drake Reportedly Submitted ‘Certified Lover Boy’ for Only One Major GRAMMY Category

As submissions for the 2022 GRAMMY Awards officially open, Drake has supposedly submitted Certified Lover Boy and a few of its tracks for consideration. According to reports, Drizzy only submitted his material to one of the big four categories — Certified Lover Boy for Album of the Year. Variety notes that the OVO head and his team have been “highly selective, for whatever reason” this year, adding that he also submitted “Way 2 Sexy” with Future for Best Rap Performance, “Girls Want Girls” for Best Melodic Rap Performance and “No Friends in the Industry” for Best Rap Song. In addition to submitting music as a solo artist, Drake could also be nominated as a guest artist and/or co-writer for tracks like “Outta Time” by Bryson Tiller, which was submitted for Record of the Year, Song of the Ye...

BTS’ Jungkook Delivers Passionate Cover of Harry Styles’ “Falling”

The worlds of BTS and Harry Styles have collided in a new cover from the BTS member Jungkook. The K-pop star has released a touching cover of “Falling” off of Style’s sophomore album Fine Line. The cover, which was uploaded to BTS’ official YouTube page, stays true to the original version of the song. Over a simple piano melody, Jungkook’s tenor vocals hit Styles’ notes with ease, allowing the unique quality of his voice to take center stage. At the bridge — when Styles sings “I get the feeling that you’ll never need me again” — Jungkook similarly impresses with his seemingly effortless, drawn-out belting of the lyrics. The K-pop artist appears to be well-versed in covering music. In the past, he’s released his own renditions of Lauv’s “Never Not”  and Selena Gomez and Charlie Puth’s ...

Nas To Direct Documentary About Influential Hip-Hop Series ‘Video Music Box’

Nas is directing a documentary about the hit 1990’s hip-hop show Video Music Box featuring decades of never-before-seen footage. Provisionally titled with the same name as the series, the film will air on Showtime on December 3. Created by Ralph McDaniels and Lionel C. Martin, who also hosted the show, Video Music Box began streaming on public TV throughout the New York area in 1983 and mainly showcased hip-hop music videos and themed music specials. As a local TV program, most of the episodes were shot on-location in the city and the hosts would conduct man-on-the-street segments where they asked passerby questions about hip-hop music and culture, as well as their opinion on more pressing topics, such as the Gulf War. McDaniels grew to become one of hip-hop culture’s foremost tastemakers ...

Denis Villeneuve Is Already Plotting a Third Dune Movie

Denis Villeneuve has just released his new movie Dune and gotten the greenlight for the sequel, but the French-Canadian director already has some spice-y ideas to make it a trilogy. As he told The Hollywood Reporter, he hopes to base the third flick on Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah. “If things go well with Part Two, I could foresee the idea of maybe doing a third movie, Dune Messiah,” he said. “That would make sense to me.” The 1969 Messiah is set 12 years after 1965’s Dune. Without delving too far into spoilers — but still, minor spoilers to follow — it finds Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet in the films) struggling with the intersection of religion and bureaucracy, focused on his family and trying to reject his own deification. RZA on Selling One-of-a-Kind Wu Tang Album to Martin Shkreli: “It Was in the Wrong Hands”

RZA revealed that he regrets selling Wu-Tang Clan’s one and only copy of Once Upon a Time in Shaolin to the notorious pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli. Nicknamed “pharma bro,” Shkreli was widely criticized for hiking the price of a lifesaving HIV drug, making it so that a single pill cost $750 USD. He’s currently serving a seven-year sentence in federal prison for unrelated charges of securities fraud. Shkreli purchased the album directly from RZA for around $2 million USD at an auction in 2015. It was seized by the United States government when he was sentenced and publicly auctioned off to an anonymous buyer in July. “It was in the wrong hands in reality,” RZA said in an interview with Hot 97 on Wednesday. “He made the deal before it was revealed of his character, his persona...

Zack Snyder Reveals Official Title for ‘Army of the Dead 2’

For a long time, media across the board has been referring to the upcoming sequel of Zack Snyder‘s Army of the Dead flick as Army of the Dead 2. Now, the director has given the film an official title. In a recent interview with Inverse, Snyder was asked if audiences would be able to see the in-between of Dieter’s story between the end of the first three heists of Army of Thieves and the beginning of Army of the Dead. In response to this question, he also reveals the title of the next film stating, “We don’t see him die on camera, and there’s still some time left. I won’t tell you what happens in Army of the Dead 2 — aka Planet of the Dead — but let’s just say that there’s a chance Dieter survives. And there’s a chance that brush with death would have caused him to want to find a jailed Gwe...
