“I grew up in Trinidad around my whole extended family, lots of aunts and uncles and cousins,” says singer-songwriter TRISHES. “I was always singing, always performing. There was a period from about seven to 12, after moving to the United States, that I didn’t think I could be a musician, because none of the artists I saw on television looked like me! Around middle school, after I performed at the talent show, I realized it actually was something I could do. People were just so affected by the performance that I started to understand that I could move people, I could make them feel things.” Her newly-released, first full-length album, The Id, showcases, in her own words, her “experimental minimalist beat-driven pop” style, as well as her powerful voice and thought-driven lyrics. “The Idis ...
Cheyenne and Zach made a “commitment for a lifetime” during tonight’s Teen Mom OG episode: The longtime sweethearts got engaged in front of their family and friend’s at their baby sprinkle for son-on-the-way Ace. Ryder was also part of the special moment. Before Zach popped the question to Chey and Ryder, he made sure to get the blessing from her father Kyle. Next, he devised the plan: The proposal(s) would unfold at the aforementioned party in a separate indoor area, and the two would be blindfolded on their way to the special spot. When Cheyenne arrived at the romantic destination, she was genuinely surprised. And no, Chey, you weren’t receiving a crib! “Twelve years later, I got you right where I want you,” Zach told a stunned Cheyenne. “A...
The 2021 MTV EMA show draws near, and with a loaded nominations list anchored by superstars like Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, Ed Sheeran, Olivia Rodrigo, and The Kid Laroi, it promises to be a can’t-miss event. But that’s just the beginning. In addition to the big awards and must-see fashion on the red carpet, this year’s performances are taking things international. Colombian sensation Maluma, Italian glam-poppers Måneskin, and Los Angeles-based German future-pop star Kim Petras will all hit the stage at the 2021 EMA. This is Maluma’s second time performing at the show, after making his debut in 2020 with a medley of “Djadja” and “Hawái.” He’s also up for two awards: Best Latin and Best Lat Am-Central Act. Måneskin will make the...

In anticipation of the game’s upcoming release, Activision has now teamed up with actual war photojournalists to create a set of limited-edition prints captured within Call of Duty: Vanguard itself. The project brought renowned photographers Alex Potter and Sebastiano Tomada Piccolmini — both of which covered conflicts in the Middle East extensively — into the virtual environment of the game through a specifically designed portal system allowing them to capture cinematic yet realistic scenes in tribute to those who served in WWII. The limited-edition prints will be sold to fans with all proceeds donated to the Call of Duty Endowment fund, an initiative that has now funded the placement of more than 90,000 veterans into employment and aims to reach 100,000 veterans by 2024. “...
Last week, Valve announced that Steam would not be allowing any crypto-based games and NFTs on its platform, resulting in various blockchain game developers expressing their disappointment in the company. Now, a collective of more than 26 studios has come together to issue an open letter asking Valve to reconsider its policy. Spearheaded by the advocacy group Fight For the Future, NFT trading platform Enjin, and the Blockchain Game Alliance, the open letter directly address Valve and details why there shouldn’t be a ban on crypto-based titles on the massive distribution platform. The collective contends that using blockchain technology and web3 token-based technologies such as DAOs and NFTs can greatly enhance gaming experiences while creating new economic opportunities for both players an...
Some of the greatest MCs represent the neighborhoods that molded them. Jay-Z and Nas have Brooklyn. Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar have Compton. But for 24-year-old non-binary rapper, Pink Navel, aka Devin Bailey, that city doesn’t exist, well, on the material plane. “I’ve always said that I’m from the internet more than any physical place,” Bailey says, fiddling with one of their dreads. And that’s certainly reflected in their music. Bailey’s latest record, Epic, is a distinctly online project filled with a dizzying combination of TikTok samples, bars about YouTube and anime, and swirling beats that were produced for a live audience on Twitch. Raised in the coastal town of Marshfield, Massachusetts, about 30 miles south of Boston, Bailey had a hard time finding a single city to call hom...
Trying to be all things to everyone is a fruitless pursuit. It’s impossible on a logistical scale, much less an imaginative one, and no one ends up being satisfied. That being said, Mastodon’s latest album Hushed and Grim (out Friday through Reprise) is, in a way, a Mastodon record for all Mastodon fans. Whatever era you came on to the Atlanta metal quartet over the past two decades, they’ve got your number. “Teardrinker” and “More Than I Can Chew” recall their pivotal turn in Crack the Skye, when drummer Brann Dailor became a co-lead vocalist and ascended to heady prog-metal righteousness. For the heads from the beginning, “Pushing the Tides” and “Savage Lands” will take you back to when Remission was fresh and a roof and beer money was all you needed to be set. For our Track by Track feature, artists open up about the stories behind each song on their latest album. Today, SEVENTEEN take us track by track through their ninth mini-album, Attacca. Welcome to Attacca: aptly named after an antiquated word describing moving forward without pause, the EP is SEVENTEEN‘s ninth mini-album, the fourth during the pandemic era alone. The group has been going nonstop. As is par for the course for SEVENTEEN, the album features writing, composing, and arranging credits for all the group members, along with trusted collaborator Bumzu. It’s not all too common for K-pop artists to have such a heavy hand in the process, but the members of SEVENTEEN (along with many other artists under the HYBE umbrella) are enthusiastic exceptions. After the year she’s had, Olivia Rodrigo has earned her flowers, and she brought hundreds — perhaps thousands — of them to the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live! for her performance of the SOUR cut “traitor.” A longtime Disney star, Rodrigo is no stranger to television. For her new appearance on the ABC stages, she posted up in front of a piano in a manicured floral field. As the bitter pop tune progressed, her band appeared out of the shadows to flesh out the orchestration, but Rodrigo was never long out of frame. Elsewhere on the show, Rodrigo sat for an interview with Kimmel. She told him about her experience visiting the White House, as well as the incredibly strange gifts she was presented with by President Biden: Ray-Bans, M&Ms, and for some reason, a shoehorn. Elvis Costello & The Imposters have announced a new album titled The Boy Named If, out January 14th via EMI/Capitol Records. As the first preview, they’ve shared the first single, “Magnificent Hurt.” Co-produced by Costello with Sebastian Krys, the LP’s recording sessions started off with a rhythm section of the frontman’s guitar and Pete Thomas’ Gretsch drums, recorded down in Bonaparte Rooms West. Longtime collaborator Davey Faragher contributed bass and vocals from France, with Steve Nieve playing the organ. “I started The Boy Named If with just an electric guitar, some sharps and flats, high heels and lowdowns, with five songs in bright major keys and carried on to write a whole new record for The Imposters to play,” Costello said in a statement. He added that the 13 tracks “take u...
