PHIL LEWIS Says L.A. Music Scene Became ‘More About The Hair And The Silliness Of It’ Before Arrival Of Grunge

In a new interview with The Rock Experience With Mike Brunn, L.A. GUNS singer Phil Lewis spoke about how the rise of grunge in the early 1990s forced most hard rock bands off the radio and MTV, with album and tour sales plummeting. “The whole thing, the whole L.A. music scene was becoming more about the hair and the silliness of it,” he said. “We weren’t really silly. I mean, we did some silly stuff, but we always fancied ourselves to be more of a biker, leathery, dirty band. We were quite happy being dirty. “The trend towards — and this is definitely, I swear, it’s not a knock — but when you get guys like Kip Winger; he’s like a model, he’s so fucking handsome [with] big hair and big teeth, and we’re quite dirty and ugly, and we’...

DAVID ELLEFSON ‘Was Nervous To Go To Starbucks’ Days After News Of His Sex Video Scandal Broke

In a new interview with Joshua Toomey of the “Talk Toomey” podcast, David Ellefson was asked if he was nervous to see what people were going to say following his dismissal from MEGADETH five months ago, just days after sexually tinged messages and explicit video footage involving the bassist and a woman that is not his wife were posted on Twitter. “A hundred percent,” the bassist responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “Back in May, I was nervous to go to Starbucks. I went way off the radar and I just shut everything down. And I sought some counseling and therapy. I’m in the recovery community, and thank God they were very supportive, of course, ’cause that’s what we do. “[When] these big challenges come along in life, as we all...

Curb Your Enthusiasm Returns for a Wine-Spilling, Gut-Busting Season 11 Premiere: Review

The Pitch: Twenty-one years in, and LA’s (least) favorite curmudgeon Larry David is still up to his usual self-serving tricks, even as HBO’s long-running sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm moves from its MAGA-hat commentary in Season 10 to COVID-era shenanigans in Season 11. The season premiere — dubbed “The Five-Foot Fence,” Jehovah bless — brings the show back without skipping a beat, rolling into these so-called “unprecedented times” with all the unpredictable hilarity we’ve come to expect from L.D. and the crew. Leave it to Larry to start off the season with an image right out of Sunset Boulevard: a dead body in Larry’s pool and the police determine that it’s clearly a burglar who fell in and drowned. No harm, no foul, thinks Larry; by the time he’s successfully pitched a show ...

Coach Legend Singers ‘Shine’ With Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran Covers on ‘The Voice’: Watch

Dias went next, hitting “Mega Mentor” Ed Sheeran’s “Photograph.” And like the fire-haired Brit, Dias flexed her musical chops on an acoustic guitar and percussion, for a strong all-round performance. “What in the world is with your tone,” Clarkson said of Vacanti. “It’s so big, it’s so round.” Clarkson admitted she’s “obsessed” with Dias. “There’s so much artistry to you.” But Vacanti was her fave. Blake Shelton remarked that Vacanti “swung for the fence” and was on the “verge of breaking down,” in the best possible way. Ariana Grande loved what she saw and heard, but, if she had the choice she would go with Dias. In the end, John Legend had to make a call. “It’s so cool to see you both shine on this stage,” he remarked. But there could be only one, and that was Vacanti. ...

Elton John and Duran Duran Battle For U.K. Albums Chart Crown

Close behind is Duran Duran, whose 15th studio album Future Past (BMG) opens at No. 2. With Future Past, the alternative rock veterans could nab their highest-charting record in 38 years, since 1983’s Seven And The Ragged Tiger led the chart. Duran Duran’s most recent album, 2015’s Paper Gods, debuted and peaked at No. 5 in the U.K. Meanwhile, Lana Del Rey’s Blue Banisters (Polydor) starts at No. 3 on the chart blast. It’s the U.S. alt-pop artist’s eighth record and second release of 2021. Scottish rock favorites Biffy Clyro start at No. 4 on the midweek chart with The Myth Of The Happily Ever After (Warner Records). As the chart race enters its second stage, it’s all to play for. According to the Official Charts Company, just 4,500 chart sales currently separate the all-new Top 4. C...

I’m only 5’4″ and I’ve played the bigger person my entire life… do you now how hard that is???” The recent post is not the first time Spears has called out her family on social media. Earlier this month, Spears wrote of her family, “If you’re like my family who says things like ‘sorry, you’re in a conservatorship’ … probably thinking you’re different so they can fuck with you !!!! Thankfully I found a...

American and European Schools Ban ‘Squid Game’ Halloween Costumes

As Netflix‘s Squid Game continues to gain popularity globally, many American and European schools have a growing concern of the show’s explicit violence. Schools across the world have now placed a ban on any Squid Game-related costumes. According to The Times, Castle Park Elementary School in Dublin, Ireland has officially banned students from dressing up as any character that appears similar to the characters of the show. The school has told the parents that the events of the show are “in no way suitable for younger pupils.” The school has reportedly seen a rise in students mimicking the violent play and behavior on the playground. In another school in Madrid, teachers urged parents to provide special guidance when watching the show. They have also said that students under age 16 sho...
