Adele Calls Celine Dion’s Used Chewing Gum Her “Proudest Possession”

Here’s something to chew on: Adele was asked in a new interview about her most prized possession, and the superstar singer produced a piece of used gum that had once graced the mandibles of Celine Dion. The revelation came as part of Vogue‘s 73 Questions series, though Adele answered 95, seemingly as a tribute to her album titles (19+21+25+ the upcoming 30). As to how she acquired such an interesting artifact, it turns out she got a little help from her friend. “James Corden — who’s a friend of mine but also does ‘Carpool Karaoke,’ which I did — he did it with her and knew how much of a fan of her I was,” Adele said. “And so he made her spit her gum into a piece of paper and he framed it for me, and it’s my proudest possession!” Advertisement Related Video Elsewhere in the interv...

It was a bit of a shocker for us when we found out, so it probably will be for some of you too. Paul has been our friend for over twenty five years & we’re looking forward to at least another twenty five. He’s a funny, smart, sensitive guy.” Franz Ferdinand added, “After having played with Paul for so long, it’s obvious that not just anyone could sit behind the kit in FF, so we’re happy to say that one of the other b...

Jamie Spears Changes Lawyers After Conservatorship Loss

“We continue to have a good relationship, and are pleased that we have been able to help Jamie find new counsel,” Thoreen said. “I am confident that Jamie’s new counsel will continue to prove that he has always acted in Britney’s best interests every step of the way.” The attorney swap came after repeated setbacks for Jamie in the battle to end the 13-year conservatorship. It also came as Britney and her attorney Mathew Rosengart have vowed to investigate potential misconduct by the star’s father, signaling a tough legal fight ahead. A California judge suspended Jamie as conservator on Sept. 29, replacing him with an accountant named John Zabel. The judge ordered Jamie to turn over documents related to the case, and Rosengart – a former federal prosecutor — has warned of a “top-to-bo...

Then and Now: Jagged Little Pill 25 Becomes Alanis Morissette’s Biggest Tour Ever

In the summer of 1996, now several singles deep, Morissette mounted a full North American amphitheater run via the Can’t Not Tour, bringing in $16.7 million and selling over 700,000 tickets. On a per night basis, she earned four times as much, sold three times as many tickets and bumped the average ticket by 20% from her previous tour, with less than three months in between. She finished ’96 as the No. 8 touring artist of the year, an especially impressive mark for the then-22-year-old artist amid a uniformly more established top 10, with acts like the Eagles, KISS and Bob Seger. After several tours promoting Morissette’s subsequent albums, she celebrated Pill’s first decade with the Jagged Little Pill Acoustic Tour in 2005. Intentionally scaled down to more intimate venues for the s...

Willow and Travis Barker on Why Pop-Punk ‘Is So Important During This Time’

He wasn’t the only one who was blown away, either, as Barker ticked off a list of other recent collaborators and friends — including Ho99o9, Ryan Tedder, Omer Fedi and MGK — who told him that “Transparent Soul” was one of their favorite songs the super-busy studio habitué had worked on recently. In addition to geeking out about their studio process, mutual love of skate culture and Barker’s “magical” new recording space, the pair bonded over the hard work it takes to avoid being pigeonholed in the music business and in fans’ minds. “I’m sure you had to deal with this, too. Whatever your most popular song is, or whatever the most popular band you’ve played in is, that is what you are to some people,” Barker said. “...

A Day in the Life of…David Keenan

“In the incubator, I suppose,” is David Keenan’s response, when asked when he knew he wanted a life in music. “I’ve always made music and it’s always made me.” Discovered at 15 after running away from his Irish to home to play guitar on the streets of Liverpool, the Dundalk bred musician and poet found inspiration in the world around him: “The people around me growing up, the border town where we lived. Characters were numerous, the place was a language all by itself, and watching people become illuminated in the telling of a story was something I became engrossed by. An artist from my hometown called Jinx Lennon was a major discovery when I was a teenager. Him and Arthur Rimbaud [the poet who wrote A Season in Hell].” His second album What Then? (October 15) is a stunning follow-up to his...
